Rental property has issues with mould

We have been living in a rental property for over a year, it's a 70's bungalow and we have been having regular mould issues most of the year round.

To start, there were mould stains in the house before we moved in and we find ourselves continually cleaning down mould on the wallpaper in the lounge (same place as stain) and in the bottom corners of several rooms. The windows are also full of condensation every morning.

We have been doing the following since we moved in to try and prevent condensation and mould:

  • 12L dehumidifier running 24 hours since November
  • Running heating (about 4-5 hours total per day during winter)
  • Window open in bathroom and kitchen after showers or cooking
  • Open windows spring/summer/autumn, admittedly not every day in winter because of the cold and were hoping the dehumidifier would be a reasonable alternative.
  • Laundry - We dry clothes in the house, but use a dehumidifier at the same time
  • We fitted weatherstrip in all the window seals to fix air leaks.

Some things to point out about the house:

  • Heating dissipates quickly and is poorly insulated compared to neighbours attached semi on next to us.
  • No extractor fan in kitchen or bathroom
  • Lounge ceiling is mostly wallpapered

I would like to know firstly, is there anything else we should be doing as tenants to prevent the damp that we haven't already done? Secondly, if this is a landlord issue, what can/will they actually do here and how should i put this accross to them? Other than stating the issue and what we are doing, I don’t actually know what to say to get them do something about it.

The rental market where we are is super competitive and it would be difficult for us to have to move, but we are also really concerned about the health issues, especially for our child.

Any help much appreciated
