This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Still dark, air feels cold enough for frost.
DH and DS1 up and getting ready for work, I'm showered and dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge. DS2 settled and happy.
Lunch yesterday was roast chicken, enjoyed by us all, tonight is likely to be fish - we'll see. I have some leave to us so have a "to do" list as always - loads to do as things haven't been done due to being so poorly since before xmas - still not right but improving slowly - just still so exhausted all the time! Hoping this week to get stuff done but at my own pace so by the end of the work, jobs done and house is cleaner and tidier and much more manageable on a day to day basis.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all
Very cold here this morning and a frost I think, off to work for me and my direct boss is back today, she has been away in Dubai over christmas, she will be full of fake sorrow and sympathy at me leaving - too little too late !
Saw my sisters new foster pup yesterday she is adorable but at that nippy stage, she drew blood twice on me the little madam, she is learning quickly though and will turn out to be a lovely dog.
Had roast chicken yesterday and there is enough left for today so a nice easy dinner tonight, I will make a casserole up tonight too for tomorrow as I have an appointment after work so will be in late.
DW to empty this morning and a wash can go on.
Have good days all xxx

Morning All
Quick one from me, I'm running a bit late! Quite mild here this morning but still damp. Washing was put on the airer in the living room overnight so is almost dry.
Great your sister can foster a dog RR, what a lovely thing to do.
Good to hear you're planning your trips away Gers and dp1, I've visited Berlin and Frankfurt and enjoyed my stays.
Hugs to those in need, anyone heard from Florence? Take care.XX12 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Don't try to do too much too soon. Another dry but miserable day forecast for us but oh I dislike January so much. Roll on Spring and some brighter days.
A pottering and catching up on stuff day for me. Appointments to make and change first thing. The Sparkly cat's vet appointment on Thursday is to change as DD can't take us due to being stuck in isolation. Fortunately the allergy hasn't flared up badly yet so she will be fine waiting another week. When DS changed jobs the new hours scuppered plans for him taking us so DD took over.
Another eating from the freezer day, and will carry on until stocks go down a bit. A nice piece of smoked haddock out for tonight, probably with salad and poached egg. I'm trying to eat sensibly at the same time but don't feel any different for it yet. I managed to put half a stone on over Christmas and NY with my gluttony and it must go!
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies and poorly loved ones. Thinking of the MIA and hoping they are plodding on ok. Take care one and all and be safe xx

Good morning all, thanks for the thread nmlc and enjoy your day off,
When I returned from A!di yesterday morning, DH had already started on the housework so much of the morning was spent dusting and hoovering. DH managed to break the handle on the floor steam mop again (3rd one…) due to ‘bad design’ rather than operator error. Will need to research other makes. DH popped to Ts for some horseradish sauce – during which time I managed to clean both the bathroom and the shower room. He got chatting to someone – good timing! We had a lovely roast beef dinner and there’s lots of beef left so what’s not eaten in sandwiches today can go in the freezer.
Today I am back to work and will see what delights await. I also need to research getting to Inverness in April via the cheapest route – I fear it will be the meg@bus ☹ DD2 has his mock Maths A level today, so will be home after lunch. Dinner will be pork chops with gnocchi.
Have a good day everyone and hugs to all those experiencing tough times.

Morning folks.Another rainy night behind me, not sure it will ever end.Yesterday was not quite as slothful as I'd planned. I visited a neighbour in the early afternoon and spent a couple of happy hours chatting. When talking about covid I was hugely surprised to learn that a number of people around had had it. We're a very scattered rural community here so no stopping in the street to chat or over the fence type stuff so I'd no idea. Later on I booked a hair appointment for a week on Friday. This morning my cleaner is coming again, she's been missing because of her children getting covid so it's her first visit since before Christmas. Once she's here I'll go out and leave her to her work.DP1 - it's fab that you've booked two trips. Perhaps the wee hotel in Spandau will be too far out of the city for you but there are plenty of others.TA - I agree, January needs to move on soon, I miss the morning and evening light. Mind you, don't want to wish my days away either. 😀
Ruby - I'd love to be a fly on the wall at your place!Time to shift myself, thoughts to our poorlies and missing. Happy Monday to all.13 -
Morning all
Just having breakfast before I go down the hill to work
Nice tea at DDs last night though little one was a little madam and spent most of the time screaming she wanted pudding not dinner! She calmed down eventually and I read her bedtime stories before coming home.
Start of a busy week - we have one member of staff isolating and the school caretaker too so I'll give a hand with cleaning over in school this week. I usually just do our little nursery building when the children go home.
Well I'm going to quickly wash my dishes and get sorted
Hope everyone has a good day x

Good morning, and thanks for starting NMLC.We are trying to eat from the freezer as well, it's not quite as packed as it was. Between the freezer and my cupboards I've bought very little since Christmas.Today I'm going to the Book Club in the library, so while I'm out I'll get bread, spuds and eggs..Before Christmas I bought a lot of veg when they were cheap, and stored them in the shed, and they're fine out there as long as it's cold, just used my last potatoes on Saturday, but there's carrots, sprouts, onion and swede still out there. Not much else going on today.I'ts better that you're leaving that Job Ruby, it's a pity thay your felt you had to, but your manager doesn't seem to have had much understanding and sympathy,Hope everyone has a good day, take care folks13

Morning, hugs if you need one.
Its still quite dark, seems to be dry and a slight breeze. There was no wind at all yesterday.
Ruby, there is a think called Karma, be sure it will come back and bite your boss's tail at some point.
Bed stripped and sheets etc in the washer, cleaning lady is here this morning, I had to put the GTech round the sewing room yesterday, thread all over the floor.
We did not have the rasps in jelly last night, We had 2 small yorkies each with the beef as well as a couple of small roast spuds as well as the veg which filled us up.
Tonight is frittata and salad, and the afore said jelly.10 -
Morning all, it was still dark when I arose, and very damp outside. I was up early as DGD is here today, they've only been back to school for 2 days and now they have an inset day 🙄 It must be so disruptive for working parents. Anyway her choices for today are a visit to a garden centre for a drink and cake or making biscuits or cake here, I'll give DGD the choice. She's already opted to do some painting with Mr Fix It this afternoon, I wish I could paint like those too. I find decorating walls a better option for me, I need a bigger canvass 😂 Lunch will be BBQ chicken pizza and chips, not very healthy but we'll let it go for today. She did say that she had forgotten her bag of Schleich horses but it's ok as I have plenty of food in ! 😲 Seems she's fast turning into her brother who also stuffs his face constantly between waking and going to bed 🤣
I've been in touch with an old school friend ( we were best friends ) over the weekend as we've found each other via our old grammar school Faceache site. It will be lovely to catch up as we lost touch when we left school, almost 50 years ago 😲 Sadly I don't think we'll be able to get together face to face as she now lives in Haverfordwest.
RedRuby If it were me I'd give the manager short shrift today for the way you've been treated.
Camelot I don't think Florence has been seen on any of her threads, I too hope she's ok.
Take care all
