No WiFi - will Smart TV still function?

Morning All. I need to buy a new TV for my Dad (he’s 82). Of course all the TVs these days are Smart. But he doesn’t have WiFi. So my question is will a Smart TV work from a normal aerial and without WiFi? Thank you.

Yes, but of course there will be no "smart" functions available

Look for a basic digital TV, no Freesat satellite tuner either, they are available.

SMART functions need an internet connection.

Do you mean he doesn't have internet?

There are smart TV that will work without wifi  as they have ethernet

As you say, the vast majority of TV's sold today are 'Smart' TV's. If they have no internet connection it just means the 'Apps' won't work in a similar way as your tablet or phone.
If you don't have WiFi or indeed any internet it will work as any freeview TV with just the aerial plugged in.
