Student finance debt collector

Son overpaid by student finance by all sorts of changing amounts without explanation by the call centre agents.
They keep saying they’re looking into it but no one knows / is denying we even called. Repeating frustrating. Now having debt collector letters.
Any advice on who can help us get answers ?
