How long should it take to remove and replace guttering?

Hi everyone,
I wonder if anyone knows how long it should take to get pvc guttering removed and replaced on a 3 bed semi-detached bungalow. We have a guy coming to do the job later this month and he has told me it will take him 3-4 days to do it. I am not sure if this is right as I thought it could be done in a day. I am really worried we will end up with a job half done. Especially with all the rain we are getting recently.

Any advice on this would be great.
Thanks 🙂

Many thanks for your reply plumb1-2.We have been quoted 1250 including VAT.I wonder what reason he will give me for it taking 3-4 days when I ask him Monday.0

Is it just the plastic gutters being replaced, or are you having the the facia and soffits done?1

Just the plastic guttering and 2 down pipes. It is just him doing it. It is accessible by ladder because we had them cleaned a while ago by a guy using a ladder.

My brother-in-law is a builder and it took him under 3 days to remove guttering, fascias and soffits and replace them all. That was working alone. Just removing and replacing guttering and downpipes, assuming reasonable access, should only be a one day job. 3 days is taking the proverbial and simply a way to rip the customer off.The cost seems high too, unless it's a very large bungalow. Retail price for guttering is about £2.50 per metre and downpipe a similar price. Average bungalow even if gutter is on 3 sides should require no more than 25 metres of guttering (and that's an over estimate), plus max 3 downpipes plus brackets, angle pieces etc. Total materials cost no more than £150 tops. Add labour for one man of £250 and you have a price very close to that suggested by plumb1_2.Unless you have already paid a deposit, I would look elsewhere. In fact you may find it cheaper even if you have paid a deposit.1

Should be able to use step ladders if it’s a bungalow, still only £400 max imoGet 2 other quotes.1

Thanks TELLIT01. It seems like we keep getting ripped off with quotes. We have been trying to get this done for months. It seems not many roofers want the job around here. I only accepted this last ones quote because our guttering is leaking badly and the only other quote we had before that was for 6k.Every other roofer I have called says they have too much on to take on any more work. 🙁0

I don't really think you need a roofer for a job like this.
A general handyman might be a better bet.
