Removing missed payment from credit file?

Hi, before I continue I fully accept responsibility for this missed payment and have no one to blame but myself!
So I have an overdraft with Lloyds bank which was maxed out and due to interest charges I ended up going over my overdraft limit. I was unable to make any payments as I lost my job last September and it has been very tough.
I eventually made a £100 payment which brought me back within my overdraft limit but a little did I know at the time that 3 days earlier a missed payment had been recorded on my credit file.
I called them and basically begged for mercy but they didn’t want to play ball and kept saying that if they removed this missed payment then they are basically accepting some sort of liability.
As much as I appreciate this is totally my fault, it is also a tough one to swallow as I’ve spent years trying to improve my score and now this has pretty much put me back to square one.
Do you have any advice on how I could possibly grovel to get this removed?
Many thanks in advance.

You can't. They're obliged to accurately report the facts and they're obviously not willing to break that in your case.
But one missed payment isn't the end of the world and your score means nothing, so look to the future and just stay on top of your finances from now. Your priority needs to be to get out of your overdraft and build an emergency fund so you can ride out the bad times.1 -
I lived with a missed payment that was not my fault for 6 years.
I am afraid you'll just have to live with yours as it is obviously accurate.0 -
Its a very small problem, and will only come into play should you want/need credit.
The majority of folk will have a missed credit repayment at sometime, its not a major problem, you may not meet some banks lending criteria, but you might for others, ZX81 covers the real issue above.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
