Sky Zero

Anyone else had an email from Sky Zero with various fixed rate bond offerings? I immediately thought it was a scam but it might actually be legitimate. The rates are anything up to 3.75% for a minimum 50k and hold of 12 months. This is way better than anything else, so falls into my "too good to be true" category and leaves me highly suspicious. But Sky Zero does appear to be a legitimate Sky initiative if you do an Internet search

https://www.skygroup.sky/sky-zero is the organisation's greenwashing sustainability initiative, but I can't see any connection with a bonds issue, so would share your scepticism about its legitimacy....

Probably just a scammer abusing a well known brand to steal you money.

Financial offerings that come via email are almost inevitably scams, unless from an institution you already subscribe to.
A quick search via duckduckgo showed up not a single link to 'sky zero bond'.

As above the email was not from Sky Zero but scammers using their name.

What was the email address they were sending from and the website they were claiming was their one?

It's very well done and could catch a lot of people out. Domain was only registered at the end of December 2021 so all very new.

The website makes no mention of the bond rates but more importantly it isn't possible for companies to sell bonds directly to the public anymore so the scammers will harvest the info and get their contact details for the hard sell.

The video is a genuine Sky one but not from their YouTube account. Their correct Sky website is https://www.skygroup.sky/sky-zero

The scam website even uses a shopping centre as the contact address! Royal Victoria Place, Tunbridge Wells, TN1 2SS  https://damn-lies-and-statistics.blogspot.com/2022/01/sky-zero-bond-offer-scam.html

Almost certainly another clone scam but on the basis of the information provided by you (none) it's impossible to say. Are you a customer? Did you click on a link on Facebook? Was it an unsolicited email out of the blue?

Not sure what comments you want other than what's posted above. It certainly isn't legit and is nothing to do with Sky or Wells Fargo. Why would an American bank with no UK presence be offering you a bond?

  • I received the email too.  Check the ISIN's on the stock exchange.  I randomly selected the second one ISIN XS1143502901 it is listed in Dublin.  All the documents are available to read.

NOTE: I have not reviewed the docs and am not saying legit but at least one of the ISINs exists and is listed to Sky.  Will do some more investigation.
