Did MBNA sort the Amazon-Visa problem or...

Have this fast-looming problem of the Amazon-Visa blockage and anyway it was time to pay off my Christmas credit card debt. A routine and I've never needed to remember if a card is Visa or Master. Seen a list, apparently MBNA does both. Which mine? Ah, card is Visa.
OK, pay now in any case. Tried yesterday to go through MBNA app to pay and there came up a page which to my surprise said "MBNA Mastercard'!
Pretty sure never seen before. Wondered if meant MBNA has solved purchaser's problem. But also have never found page again so wonder if hallucinated. Anyone else seen this?
I didn't use it as not yet set up to repay from app, did so from own bank (delays days).
Nearly Ideal would be if I can get them to just send me a new card, Master instead of Visa. But I can only see option apply for new card like they didn't know you, long term reliable client. If confusion can arise it will
Just want minimum hassle and change.

My MBNA card is also a Visa. The app on my phone simply refers to the account as "MBNA Credit Card". There's no mention there of either Visa or MasterCard.By all means phone and ask them to give you a MasterCard. You've got nothing to lose. However, don't be surprised if they refuse. They appear to treat such requests as new applications, and don't seem to be interested in issuing new MasterCards to existing customers, however good their credit, at the moment. If you search the forum, you'll find a thread discussing this. From memory, it was a month or two ago, shortly after Amazon announced that it would stop accepting Visa cards. If you want a new MasterCard, I'd suggest going to the MSE Credit Card Eligibility Calculator and feeding your details in. I was surprised by the results when I did. It told me that, whilst I had plenty of choice, MBNA weren't interested in giving me a new card. (I only did it out of curiosity, not with any intention of applying. I already have two Master Cards - including an Amazon/NewDay one - and two Visas.)

Correction: don't bother to look for the earlier thread to which I referred. I've just done so, and can't find it. On reflection, I vaguely recall it having disappeared within a day or so. Presumably somebody deleted it. Anyway, I summarised the relevant points above.Incidentally, my phone runs Android. I don't know whether the iPhone MBNA app is different, but I can't see why anyone would go to the bother of programming one to refer to Visa or MasterCard, but not the other.0
