scrap car clamped on unadopted road

My partner has just had his scrap car clamped. To make it clear, it was bought as a scrap car, with no paperwork, so he can use it for parts. It does look like a proper car though; it has not been SORNed as it bought as scrap from a scrapyard. We live on an unadopted road which we have to maintain ourselves, with a range of units/workshops which we either own or rent. The car is parked outside the workshop, on the forecourt which we own, and also with a couple of wheels on the unadopted road, though not blocking it as the road is very wide. It is the DVLA who have clamped it. Ours is the only property on this unadopted road, although people do use it as an unofficial short cut. When we have had fly tipping on the road, the council refuse to take it away as they say it is not their responsibility, as they do not own it. DVLA aren't answering the phone, and the other contact number is only set up to receive payments. Has anyone got any advice? Thanks!

My understanding is authorised car scrapyards need to be licenced to ensure all parts of the car are appropriately disposed of/recycled in the end. It sounds like your partner's car was outside this system.
But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,Had the whole of their cash in his care.

Problem I think is it was not Sorned. Read the link and you may find it helpful

Thanks for the advice.
We have several classic cars that are being worked on, so are well aware of the SORN system. It never occurred to us to SORN the scrap vehicle as it is not really a vehicle, it really is a donor. Additionally, as I said, it had no paperwork with it to use for the SORNing, if you see what I mean, and was bought without a log book etc etc. We have lived here for over 20 years, and have parked many other vehicles (and bits of vehicles) on this lane, and have never had an issue. I feel the very full trailer with flat tyres that is falling apart that is parked directly behind the clamped vehicle is probably more of an issue, but ssshhh, don't tell the DVLA. (If it was parked on a maintained road I think we would have had to deal with that years ago!)
I will repost on the suggested forum0
