Looking for a decent family travel insurance policy for Orlando in the summer that would cover refunds in the event of getting covid before travel and deal with catching it whilst you were away. Assuming the package company will deal with any government restrictions imposed at either end but want a policy from someone reputable that gives us peace of mind if any of the family couldn't travel. Hoping someone may have done the investigation and been through all the small print and have some recommendations?

Which investigated 80 policies at the beginning of December and only recommended 5, 3 of which require back accounts at Barclays, HSBC and Nationwide but if you don't have an account, the remaining two are Churchill and Direct Line. You have 14 days from purchase to cancel if after reading the policy, you don't think it offers you the cover you want

Had a look at this just now as I've just brought insurance via staysure.

This is the Which? link - Best and worst travel insurance - Which?

So basically which have 4 categories for COVID travel insurance - basic, low, superior, complete.

The Superior category has alot more insurers and they only thing they do not cover compared to complete is cancellation due to FCDO advice or lockdowns.

If you booked a package holiday then the provider should allow you to move or refund the holiday if there is a government lockdown or FCDO advice against travelling but worth checking.

I have used Aviva during COVID (cannot find it on the Which? lists) and actually made a claim with them. - Never had any issues with them. Other family members have said they are hard to get hold of on the phone at the moment though.
I have used Coverforyou before and after COVID (AXA is the underwritter). Never had any issues but never claimed.
I have just taken out a policy with Staysure. Seem to have good reviews but not claimed on the policy.
