  • Aw, bless them and her allowing him a chippie tea. That's actually brought a tear to my eye. I hope he has, and all the family have, lots of enjoyment for as long as possible x

Well done on getting through a tough week. I'm glad your boss is understanding.

Are there any practical or financial things that need to be shown to or put in the name of your MiL while there's opportunity to do so in an 'easier' way?

Sounds like you're all dealing with a rotten situation as best you can. I did smile at FiL recounting all his past near death experiences 😊 So pleased he's got a named nurse he can talk to, and that your boss is supportive 😊

    This weekend’s plans.
    - usual chores - first load of washing is already in
    - various £cial updates - have some (small!) positive mortgage news - more later 😊
    - clearing some visual eyesores:
       * table in the kitchen (cannot bear this any more)
       * dining room table (this needs to be cleared for a Parish Council ‘interview’ 🙄 on Monday evening
       * my bedroom - this breaks down into excess books and clearing the remaining magazines once I have captured information in them I want to keep
       * the office - tidy and organise
If that lot gets done I will be delighted!
    - Perhaps some gardening if not too cold - I could finish the bark paths on the veggie patch
    - some, any, kind of crafting
    - pleasure reading
    - reading of English student’s book choice
    - mark his homework and deliver session
    - try new recipe I found on one of the threads here 😊

    That’ll do I think! 😉😊

  • Sounds like a busy plan with some positive highlights. It feels warmer here so I'm hoping to get at least some chance to be in the garden.

Do you have a specific task or area in your sights ….? 😊

Just catching up. So glad boss was understanding and the chippie tea, well, that made me smile too.  Sounds like you are making the best of what is going to be a very tough few weeks.
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!
  • i really need to clear the veg plot of a handful of nettles before i start playing with a no dig section. If the water tubs have defrosted then I can get the cardboard down and the coir rehydrated.

the alternative is to add some bark to the front roadside raised bed - all the rain has meant some soil erosion and the snow drop bulbs are quite exposed. It's full of snowdrops and cyclamen which I've been transplanting from other bits of the garden for years. It might help to suppress the bird seed sprouts too (I now buy heat treated bird seed!)
  • I went outside, but came straight back in. Nasty cold biting wind. Hope you have more success.
