    Thanks to you all, just to put some points across. We knew 100% about the land at the front, we also had a letter from Highways stating it but also that they would only ever take back 1.5m if ever needed and simply asked us not to block access. That's fine, it's parking area in front of the garage. Also we have no intention of causing any issues by physically blocking the road widening if it does go ahead. We loose 0.6m which isn't a deal breaker although would be a hassle.

    Just reading back through the letter, and it's from Cambs County Council and states 'They have found evidence to suggest that highway rights do not only cover the surfaces carriageway, but that they also extend over part of the verge that adjons your properties front lawn and driveway'. This is a letter from the Highways Service at Cambs County Council.
