Flight only with Jet2 issues in January

We have flights only booked with Jet2 for January 22nd.  On 17th December, after the French government announcement, they cancelled a three week block of flights until Jan 7th.  With no further definitive announcements they were still allowing you to book for the 8th Jan until yesterday. Now those flights have disappeared from the web site.  I have asked what they plan for the next two weeks but their answers were rather abrupt.  I looked at changing to Jan 2023 so got flight costs etc off their website.  On chat I asked about changing to one year forward and quoted the cost difference - their answer was 'those prices are for new customers not existing' and when I said that wasn't fair the answer was' it doesn't work like that!' Can they charge you more than the quoted cost on the website for the new tickets?  I also think they are very dismissive of the organisation and loss of car hire costs and airport parking already booked - can they really leave it until the day before when they have no real idea when the French will change their minds about English ski tourists?

Of course they can, if the flight is on a different day and it costs more.

Likelihood is Jet2 cancel the flight and you will get a full refund (and you will therefore be a new customer again), but there are 2 weeks worth of people in front of you, be patient. It wont be "the day before". The person on the phone or webchat you spoke to is a minion who will have absolutely no idea what the "plans" are.

All prices displayed are subject to change without notice before a booking is confirmed. … Most online discounts and promotional fares are not available for bookings made through our call centre.”

Even booking through the website, you may find the final price of flights changes by the time you complete the booking.
  • The flight was more expensive in Jan 2023 and I factored that in of course. - That's life. But to blatantly say existing customers get a worse deal was what got me.  They have cancelled the 8th Jan folks the day before I would say - given you could still book them yesterday but not today.  I am hoping they decide to give people at least a weeks notice - we will see.
  • and I was going to do it online not through the call centre so I will post again if they do change before my very eyes

You do realise the last 2 years have been ridiculously difficult for airlines dont you?
Borders shut at a days notice. Borders reopen at a days notice. If they cancel your flight at a weeks notice and then they reopen the borders 2 days before your original flight you would be very quick to moan, so what if you dont get a lot of notice? Its the way of the world now.
