Hi,
What is the best way to find out if I'm entitled for a free eye test? I'm on universal credit and not employed as I'm a full time carer for my autistic son. Do I need to apply for a voucher or just show my uc statement to show I'm entiltled/eligible?
Thanks.

You will need to show your Uc statement for the previous month to confirm that your earnings were below the threshold.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.0 -
Hi,
Thanks for the reply.
Just want to clarify, when it says net earnings, it's earning from employment not your benefit entitlement? I'm not working at the moment just receive uc and carer allowance.
I contacted my local job centre and they also provide the above links instead of giving a definite answer.

Yes, it's earnings through working. As you're not working then you'll be entitled to free NHS prescriptions/dental and eye tests/with a voucher towards any glasses/contact lens.

I have my eye tests at boots. They have never asked me for my uc statements. I can't say that every opticians is the same.
I guess that it all gets checked by the NHS, like with prescriptions, to see if you are entitled to them.0 -
If you click at the bottom of your statement, it shows the full info. I think it's called other support/help you can get or something similar.
It's that bit you need to show. as it shows the breakdown.
