ok so the only people losing out will be the house to the left. It looks like the alley was provided as rear access for them. It depends on whether they want to enforce action in the future. It may be out of your hands as the solicitor may feel the have to tell the bank if they don't get satisfactory answers.

Has the alley alongside 29 also disappeared?
That's the house I'm buying! Circled in red so if the alley behind isn't there then my garden had just been made bigger! No alley behind 29 either so I assume they done the same thing.

I believe that kirtondm meant the house to the left of the red outline. It looks like the path was to provide access to their back garden.
Oh yes I see! I guess I'll have to wait for his response. Just wanted opinions on here as he isn't the quickest at responding!
  • It looks to me like there is/was an alleyway from the main highway along the length of the garden of No. 29, to provide access to the property outlined in red AND the house to the left of the red outlined property.  Does the alleyway still exist at the side of No 29 (i.e. the longer bit going from the road to the rear).

It shouldn't be a problem if none of the properties require any access at the rear, but assume that the alleyway is not on your title and you 'may' have to reinstate the section of alleyway now incorporated into your garden in the future.

You will most likely enjoy many years of utilising the land within your garden without any issue whatsoever, just be aware that when you come to sell, this is likely to come up when the buyer's solicitor raises their enquiries.

Where the long part of the alleyway goes between two properties (No. 29 and 31?), at the T Junction the alleyway also turns right, with a gate maybe?  Is this still there?

So regarding the access to 29 it seems that the part leading to the alley is there's as there is a gate that come out to the side if that makes sense. So they have made the alley side and back part of their property. To the right of 29 is a carpark behind the houses 31 etc.

I think we will see what the seller says buy just accept it as it is. If anything comes up in future it should be an easy fix .
