Toys r us lego promo

Went to do the kids Christmas shopping today at Toys'R'Us, they are advertising on the TV that if you spend 'x' amount on Lego then you get a free tub of 700 assorted bricks. Off i went today to buy the alloted amount and claim the free gift only to find that there were no adverts for it in store. I stopped one of the staff to ask where the promotion was and she stated that although it is still being advertised they have withdrawn it in store as it was selling too quickly! She said they have the right to withdraw and promotion even if its still being advertised on telly. Not impressed.

grrrr, i hope thats not the case in my local :mad:
i was there the other day and the promotion was on but i couldn't afford the 65 quid to get it and was gonna go back at the weekend.

To be fair, most promotions do say 'subject to availability' so I can understand why there could be ads on telly still - presumably these are not only pre-booked slots, but also there may still have been stores nationwide which could honour the offer.
I do understand your annoyance, but when companies are giving away something for free and the customer misses it, it is a shame, but nobody really loses anything.
