funny this just pops up, I have used a few WiFi cameras recently but this week decided to invest in a cheap one from eBay and it doesn't look all that great.
I've had a Eufy 2K pan & tilt cam that I have used for 2 years now in various locations, I often pair it to a mobile dongle and leave it in the middle of nowhere to check up on things and it works perfectly. also a TP link one thats worked fine and is just simple to connect every time I need it
So last month I've recently developed a leak in my roof, I grew tired of going up there to check it and had the idea of buying a cheap wifi cam to fit up there so I could monitor the leak remotely.
so I bought this https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/374513396718?var=643478953767 but it is just rubbish, it took 30 mins to set it up, I followed the instructions to a tee 5 times and on the last time it suddenly connected. and to top it off, the picture quality is poor and it lags. IR pictures are as grainy as the late noughties. the instructions are in chinglish and make little sense
moral of the story you get what you pay for, the eufy one was £35 , it's worked ok for years. the cheapo was £10. only reason I got another on is I wanted to store it inside the ceiling space and there wasn't enough space to get any of my other cameras in there2 -

its cheap and simple, has motion and sound alert, can pay for cloud storage, but i dont bother.also has a mic and speaker so can monitor sounds. think it cost me about £20.you can also have multiples of them and share them with others if you want other family members to be able to monitor as well...think i got it from amazon.1 -

Another way to keep a constant recording is to stream the WiFi signal to a media player such as VLC, and I'm sure others. You'd need to keep the PC or tablet running constantly, I presume, and it could output to an ext hard drive if you didn't want to fill up the device's own storage. Delete files on a monthly basis or as required.
