We are currently £9,808 down with nothing to show for it but alot of stress trying to sort it out, I just want the £7, 739 that I am rightfully due - alot of money that I need0

I think you have to step back and give this company sometime. You are already complaining about delays on a refund but this was a New Year holiday and today is 6th January. Most businesses and banks were closed until 4th January. I think you need to show some reasonable patience.1

Hardly surprising. Everyone will have the same gripe as you do. Without any thought as to the operator itself. Who will have costs to cover. Because you didn't use the accomodation doesn't mean that other contracts that were in place are null and void. The staff and chalet owner still have to be paid for example.SkiNY2021 said:
Unfortunately in hindsight I have found some bad reviews regards them returning monies under covid problems.1 -
"Whilst I believe that the company keeping £2,069 of my money is extremely unfair and unreasonable for a holiday we could not take through no fault of our own and at short notice......."From their perspective - neither was it them at fault that you were unable to travel, or the short notice.1

Can you confirm you have checked your travel insurance policy?
mine (insure & go) covers fco advice changing after booking.
apologies if I’ve got this wrong but it comes across as though you are making assumptions from what you’ve read
there is a difference between travelling against fco advice (usually not covered) and fco advice changing after booking and it would be quite easy to be confused.
apologies again if I’m wrong but can you confirm you’ve checked your policy
I cannot think of any other route,
It won’t help you I know but the fact/position is that you accepted the terms and conditions.0 -
Details of your COVID-19 cover
- Pre travel cancellation cover if you fall ill with COVID-19
- Cancellation cover if you are required to self-isolate subject to medical certification or an official positive test result
- Medical claims due to COVID-19 while travelling so long as you are not travelling against Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office advice
- If you need to come home early due to the illness of a close relative contracting COVID-19
Please note, there is no cover under this policy for cancellation claims due to changing Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) advice in relation to a pandemic after purchasing your insurance or trip (whichever is later).
This is noted on an email I sent to them and when I looked into it, it seemed that no company would cover the FCDO advice changing so I am surprised you have a policy that does. I think that's pretty clear? Maybe I will contact them anyway.
Thank you to everyone who has sent their advice, I really appreciate it. I know I am quick to act on this but have great anxiety about recovering what is alot of money and an all round disappointing situation and looks like a very expensive lesson learned1 -
At the time of writing there is no FCDO advice against travelling to France currently- this is a “red herring”.
The Border has been closed to tourists from the UK by the French authorities , this is different to FCDO advice not to travel.
To make a claim on your insurance it would have to cover Border closures -
Which? Compared 80 travel insurance policies and found only 5 that covered this scenario
Barclays Bank, Churchill, DirectLine, Nationwide Building Society and HSBC
This is why it is so important to book either a package holiday or accommodation that allows cancellation with full refund.1 -
"This is why it is so important to book either a package holiday or accommodation that allows cancellation with full refund. "Seconded2
