Good morning, early for me today. Cold and frosty out, I have been wearing my super warm coat for a few days, it's an American make and below the knee - super snuggly.
Day 10 of cold, don't think I am infectious now, residual sluff like tickly cough and loss of voice on occasions, but on the mend slowly - the joys of a poor immune system, but being retired I don't have to worry about work schedules or running out of sick leave. TA Another one here who needs to get to grip with healthier eating, I have a small appetite, but have been eating too many carbs and now have 5-7 pounds to shift - only 5st 3, so really shows and trousers will mostly zip but not button up!
Lateral Flow Tests are like gold around here so decided not to go to K&Natter so I am sure of having 1 before charity coffee morning on Saturday. Bella thinking of you and hope that the pain eases, Poppy fingers crossed for your test results.
@Florenceem hoping that you are O.K have missed seeing you. nmlc thank you for the new thread. Izzy stay strong your boss sounds horrid.
Hugs and spoons, take care all.The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)9 -
@maddiemay lateral flow tests are currently available online - or were ten minutes ago. Just managed to order some.9

Hi everyone,
Brr it's cold today, I think I'll give Ziggy's walk a miss, at least I've got the excuse of my tendonitis. I do need to go out though because we need milk and veg etc. Like others of you I need to cut down on the treats and carbs, the trouble is when it is so cold all I want is a hearty hot meal.
Steve has been battling with Curry's about my new laptop, I won't bore you with the story but they have been truly awful, he finally spoke to someone yesterday who gave us more hope that we were making progress. We are now waiting for contact from the local store, I hope it's not false hope.
Poppy, I hope the treatment goes ahead and it helps.
dp1, I'm so pleased little one is better, I can only imagine what a worry it all is.
Have a good day.10 -
Morning everyone
It's a cold start here with the heaviest frost so far this winter. It was very crunchy underfoot when I went to top up the bird feeder.
Bella - how awful, I hope you can at least take some pain killers to keep you going.
Gers - the scenery sounds absolutely amazing - what a joy!
Camelot - your cold day reminded me of my school days when we were often sent home in the winter because the heating had broken down. It's really hard to warm up once you get that cold - hopefully it's warmer today.
No real plans for today - I'm off to get my nails done later this morning (lateral flow test done and all ok!) and I am working from home as usual around that. I made a chicken casserole yesterday so that will just need heating up later so that saves some time.
Chores wise - I have hoovered round and cleaned the kitchen sink. I have a load of washing on and one ready to go in. This is one of the good things about working from home - it does give me the opportunity to do a few bits in between work. The problem is that I then feel guilty and work later into the evening which is not a good habit!
I hope everyone stays nice and warm today.

Morning, hugs if you need one.......
Bright but very cold, frost is not lifting yet. I have to go down to get DB's medication, tried to order some lateral flow tests on line..... none left.....so will try the chemist when I pick up the script. Update, they do not have any..... so thats that.
I saw our neighbours son yesterday, she was admitted to hospital on Monday and we were concerned about her dog, apparently she has kidney failure. She is being transferred to another hospital for dialysis. He is coming in during the day to the dog and her daughter comes over at night to sort him out. That was a relief.
I have woodburning stove envy, I really wish we had one put in when we moved in, I could unlock the fireplace, But the coal man would not be able to get the coal in, the freezer is in the way.
All laundry up to date, until Monday when the whole sequence starts again.
Used some panetonne yesterday to make a bread and butter pudding, scrummy, enough left for today. Sausage and yorkies tonight, I made a tray of yorkies and froze what we did not eat, will stick them in the air fryer for 5 minutes to warm them through.

Morning all...Brrrr! Kept the fire in last night and it lit fairly easily this morning with some sticks, so at least that is roaring away. Next I'll have to brave the shower, when the heating isn't on it's a bit brr when you come out of it, but at least that wakes me up a bit. OHs mum has just texted to say she's going shopping, do I want to come? Yes, thank you very much that'd be lovely...I've got eggs on the list and bread, butter and coffee..Then I can just go crazy looking at things I don't want to buy
As you can tell, still no car.
Made the massaman curry, theres enough for tonight as well. Now to think about tomorrow night...Zoom meeting with architect went well, we'll actually have a pretty nice house if this ever comes off...Didn't get to the lean to sorting out yeterday, too damn cold out there. Maybe today...Csarina, sounds lovely, I'm going to attempt Jamie Olivers tart with marmalade and chocolate after [when I have eggs] with my seriously OOD pannettone... Bella, oh dear, hope it goes away quick smart! camelot, that's so annoying, damp can't be good for kids..or you for that matter! Gers, glad your stove is providing the goods. I did find with ours that it would take a bigger piece than I thought, so no more 9" pieces for us, going for the big guns of 12" next time again. Izzy, your boss sounds like a right one..commiserations..there's always one. tryingtocutback, also, I noticed when I was at home with my sister, she doesn't take any mandated breaks either, not even for dinner, she eats a sandwich in front of the screen, so don't feel guilty, take your breaks properly! with a timer! Take care of yourselves today, well, every day really, and wrap up....Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi9 -
Morning all, cold but not freezing today, we're due rain/snow later. I have a sm delivery due this morning, there's a few OOS and subs but nothing that I can't do without. I'm glad the jacket pots are coming though as we are having them with some salad for tea, like many others we're on the healthy eating /dieting wagon too. I was really good and didn't order any sweet stuff but I will have to have a lot of willpower and not make any cake either. I put a few top up items in there for Justin as well, we get cut off if there's snow and I need to be prepared, I get twitchy if my stocks dip too much. Our meds arrived yesterday so we're sorted with that for another month. Think this afternoon I'll watch a few more episodes of a new-to-me series on Netfl*x called The Witcher starring Henry Cavill, as I'm hooked. Well it's a toss up between that and more sorting/ cleaning 🤨 and I know which one I prefer !
Bella sorry that you have to go back to the dentist.
Poppy hugs.
Snoozer sorry that you have to do battle with Curry's over the new laptop. That's no fun and I hope you can get it sorted soon.
Tryingtcback I remember 62/63 when I went to school for 6 weeks only to get sent home every day as there was no heating and the outside toilets were frozen over 😮 Oh they were the good old days 😂
Take care all, stay safe and well.

The morning weather was horrendous, gale force winds and heavy driving rain - now it's clear and cold. I'm cosy in my heated throw so not cold enough to light the stove.I found a packet of little tomatoes tucked away in the utility room with a BBD of 25 November so I've roasted them off and they are delicious. My lunch was a weird mix up of fried up cold potatoes, some pork, peas, green beans and the final portion of the red cabbage, it was so tasty.I watched three episodes of 'I moved to the country' which looked back at those who did the move. It was good to see how some changes panned out though my heart went out to one lovely couple who bought the mystery house, moved in and five weeks later it burnt down.
they have replaced it with a beautiful brand new house in the same spot.
