This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Still dark, air feels cooler.
DH and DS1 up and getting ready for work, I'm showered and dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was chicken in sauce and veg rice - really enjoyed.
Yesterday work started off quiet and then was steady, I'm expecting today to be the same, I have an earlier finish on a Thursday now.
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
Not quite as cold this morning but still chilly, I put the heating on for half an hour to take the chill off downstairs. The upside to that is that I've aired off the washing from last night, now need to pair up all the socks!
Work was quite busy but not too bad, 3 members of staff and 23 children off with Covid, not a good start. The building was so cold yesterday I was frozen all day, had to have a hot bath when I got home. The Council hadn't had the heating on for the 2 weeks we were off. The photocopier kept chewing up the paper as it was cold so slightly damp.
Hope the little one is OK dp1.
Thinking of those struggling with life at the moment.
Have a good day. Take care. XX10 -
Morning all BRRR cold this morning i left the heating on low overnight as it was so cold I spoke too soon about my teeth the pain yesterday evening was horrendous so i called and have an appointment for tuesday i couldn't even put sensitive toothpaste on there with my finger oh well looks like i will be on yoghurt n custard for a few days on the bright side it should help shift a few pounds.DH and DS have both left for work so i will walk the dog then have a hoover through and change the beds.
Thinking of NRA & Poppy
DP1 glad little one had a good birthday in the end
Right better get on hugs to all our poorlies and those looking after poorly ones and also anyone who is feeling a bit lost right now take care everyone stay safe and warm xx

Morning all
Very cold here this morning it got down to - 4 in the early hours apparantly, its probably still in minus figures now the cars are very frosty.
Off to work for me and the last day of the week as I have tomorrow off, I am so looking forward to a lay in, it was a real struggle to get out of a warm bed this morning !
Not sure about dinner tonight I think there might be some pizza in the freezer so it might just be that and some salad or maybe jacket spuds and cheese and ham.
DW needs emptying so will do that before I leave, dd is off with a rotten cold so she may put a wash on later, house is fairly clean.
Nels I hope your poorly hands and feet feel better soon, you keep them warm my lovely xxx
Take care all and have good days xxx11 -
Post disappeared yesterday. Had a hospital appt. to plan some palliative radiotherapy. Involved a PCR test which I was not anticipating. Not pleasant as I have a very strong gag reflex. If that is negative I can have the treatment next week.
Not much on today so may be forced to get my knitting out, it is my first attempt at knitting on 4 needles and I abandoned it several times before Christmas. One more try as I don’t want to be beaten!9 -
Good morning, thanks for the start NMLC, hope you're feeling a bit better.Camelot, it's awful when you're as cold as that, a bath is the only way to warm up - hope it's a bit warmer today.Bella, sorry to hear you've had so much pain, roll on Tuesday.Keep warm today Nels, have you a heated throw or a heat pad?Dgs is visiting today, so we'll be kept on the go , I'm wondering what to give him at lunchtime.Hope everyone has a good day, thinking of our poorly people, and those with family who aren't well.Take care folks.12

Morning AGAIN!! Another one whose post disappeared when sending. And it was full of all sorts of exciting things!! Ha ha that'll be the day!
Trying again in brief. Good day out with bf yesterday, carvery busy thanks to the offer I suppose. The food was lovely and we vacated to the little bar afterwards clutching our bottle of wine. Had it all to ourselves so could sit and natter in peace.
Grounded today so some cleaning and washing on the agenda. What fun. Also the day (allegedly!) I am back to sensible eating after all the over indulging. I haven't braved the scales yet but can tell by my jeans damage has been done! Just need some willpower now.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all our poorlies, poorly loved ones and those with worries and woes. Thinking of NRA and POPPY. Take care one and all and be warm and safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"11 -
Morning folks.Poppy - my fingers are crossed for you and the treatment. 🌺
Bella - sorry that your appointment is so far away. It's a shame that the dentist couldn't offer you an emergency appointment. Enjoy the custard. When I woke briefly at 2.30 the sky was cloudless and full of twinkling and sparkling stars. It's such a real joy to see. Mind you, that means it's still very cold. We have a yellow weather warning for today and tomorrow so I'm glad I did my shopping yesterday. The trip to Oban was fine, no rain for a change. The various lochs I pass were all still, no wind at all so the waters were like mirrors. One had a sheet of ice over it. Sometimes the sights are quite spectacular. Shopping was semi-successful, I couldn't get what I wanted in either of two supermarkets but CBA to try the other two, I just substituted. In the afternoon I succumbed and lit the stove and really enjoyed it. The effort of having a new bigger one was worth it. I'm still working through wood which has been in the barn since 2017 so it's very dry and burns rather quickly. Now I don't have to be up and down so often to fill it.Two loads of washing got done yesterday and a DW ran too. That was the peak of my activity- turning on two machines! 😀😀
I hope that everyone is keeping warm and on the well side of life. Happy Thursday to all.11 -
Morning everyone - I too could have stayed cosy in my bed this morning!
Camelot - our building was the same yesterday - I'd put on an extra layer and warm socks in anticipation.
Little one is back to her normal self - full of beans! Just a case of another thing to keep an eye on - don't know how many eyes one granny can have!
NMLC -enjoy your early finish and Redruby your day off tomorrow.
She'll be here for a few hours after work as DD is working some extra hours - she's a carer and there are a lot of members of staff isolating with Covid. I put her to bed here then DD picks her up and takes her home and pops her back into bed.
Well I'd better get moving - hope everyone has a good day - try to stay warm x

OOOPS just posted on the wrong thread lol!
Good morning and thanks for starting us off nmlc.
I have an appointment at lunchtime to donate blood. It’s not my usual location so I need to get the bus to town. Haven’t given for about 5 years as too much going on, so hoping they still have extra strong lemon squash and biscuits! We have DS1s puppy here today (he’s 2, can we still call him a puppy?!). He is such a lovely boy. DD will walk him at lunchtime.
DH went to take DS2 out for a drive in his new to us car last night but battery is flat. Tried to jump start it by rolling it down our road (a hill) but no luck, so DH has to go battery hunting this morning as it’s currently parked on a yellow line! The price of batteries!!
I managed to clear the mahoosive ironing pile last night – I don’t mind it (weird I know) as long as there’s some wallpaper TV on. We are at the cinema tonight to see The K!ngs Man.
Bella – sorry about the tooth pain – nothing worse ☹
Poppy – fingers crossed your PCR comes back negative and you can start the treatment. I’m not good with 4-needle knitting either, so feel your frustration!
Izzy – don’t blame you for sticking to your set hours at work – your boss sounds a piece of work.
Hope everyone keeps warm today – blue weather map last night!
