Bringing Ground Coffee into the UK from holiday - is it okay?

Options
Hi, After Brexit, we are just wondering whether it is allowed to bring (in hand or checked luggage) packets of ground coffee from abroad - either from Turkey or from Italy?

Please can anyone let us know if there are any restrictions around this?  It would be a few bags for personal use only.

I've found a government site but it only lists a few items and doesn't mention things like tea and coffee.

Many thx in advance.

I’ve brought in coffee from the USA several times with no problems.

Everything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the end

    https://www.gov.uk/bringing-food-into-great-britain/fruit-vegetables-nuts-seeds

“From the EU, Switzerland or Liechtenstein

You can bring in the following for personal use:

    • fruit
    • vegetables
    • nuts and seeds”
Coffee beans would be classed as seeds , although when ground they wouldn’t be classed as seeds . Either way they would be permitted to be bought in to UK in for personal use.

Turkey is not in the EU so the information provided by onashoestring would not apply.  Safest to declare the item on arrival.  If commercially packaged it probably won't be an issue.

Bringing food into Great Britain - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)

You can bring the following into Great Britain from any country without any restrictions:
    • processed and packaged plant products, such as packaged salads and frozen plant material
So as long as its properly packaged, no issues

Someone in customs might wonder what you're concealing with the coffee!!
    😉😎

Prepare to be sniffed out and searched.
How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.38% of current retirement "pot" (as at end April 2024)

Why would the coffee be concealed, dont get me wrong i open a bag and detect a load of "coffee" under the lining of the bag i will be interested but bags of coffee, after a look at them, then nah you're good.

Oh yup you can import coffee, assuming its not crazy expensive, you have a limit of £390 coming into the UK.

And sniffed out? By who and what oddly our pooches arent trained to smell coffee

Back in the days when I had to have a quite a lot of dealings with Customs over shipping scientific supplies/samples to and from researchers all over the world, I remember being told that coffee grounds were quite often used to try and cover the scent of certain type of contraband/illegal imports - incl some drugs and small animals/spiders/reptiles.

They didn't tell me how effective it was though.
