Where to cash a sterling bank draft?

I got a sterling bank draft as a gift taken out in an Irish bank. I took it to my local bank branch and they told me they don’t accept bank drafts anymore (HSBC). Called their support and was told that was the rule now. Anyone got any suggestion on how or where to cash it?

Do you have accounts with any other banks? Personally, I'd try Barclays next.phayes62 said:I got a sterling bank draft as a gift taken out in an Irish bank. Might be worth trying the Irish banks in the UK .

When you say "cash a sterling bank draft", are you wanting to swap it for cash or pay it into your own bank account? I would expect that it is drawn on the UK branch/subsidiary of an Irish bank and I would expect that you would be able to pay it into a personal account with a matching name without any problems other than having to wait for it to clear.
If you do not have accounts with HSBC or Barclay's you will encounter the same problem.0
