How Do I know Which Warmer Homes Grants / Solar Panels to Trust?
Options
I'm desperately trying to look into grants and solar panels as I'm on UC and struggling with bills. The issue I have is that there are so many websites claiming to be "associated" and "in partnership" with the official schemes but they often look very "middlemen" and untrustworthy. Is there a way to tell which are the good guys and avoid being ripped off?
The government website, as always, just takes you around in circles and my energy supplier wants nothing to do with their responsibilities regarding the schemes

Is your local council participating in the Local authority Delivery scheme? If so, I'd start with them.

Thank you for the reply, that's not something I've heard of yet so I'll look into it.... ah ok, yes, I have actually just this minute filled in the form online for that! All the websites use a different scheme/organisation name and the LAD was in the small print. As I say, it's this that's making it difficult and very website look like a middle man
As I look - can I ask what the difference is between LAD and ECO? I'm expected a call from some people reference ECO next week. Are they exclusive or? I'm generally looking for a boiler replacement if possible (mines leaking and "the worst ever boiler made"), insulation options and I'm interested to find out more about solar panel grants and feeding electricity back into the grid. I don't know if there will be conflict between ECO or LAD etc0 -
Take this website for example solarpanelsgrants.co.uk
It's a basic website with generic wording and branding, so I can't tell if it's a trustworthy service or a middleman looking to scalp commissions etc0 -

The government website, as always, just takes you around in circles and my energy supplier wants nothing to do with their responsibilities regarding the schemesIf you are using a gas boiler then you can't get ECO3 assistance for solar PV as that is only available where the primary heat source is electricity...The is a lot of useful information including how to spot the rogues here:... and more information on what is and is not covered here:Also note that you are not limited to contacting only your own energy supplier, others that do not supply you can also help.
