Alpharooms refund claim

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone else has had trouble claiming a refund with bookings they had through alpha rooms?  After they closed down an email was sent from Travel Trust Association that had a claim form.  It's been over 6 weeks since I submitted the form and haven't heard anything back.

Anyone have any advice?

Kind Regards,

Joe

TTA has suggested that it will be around 12 weeks before payments are made, I think they are concentrating on dealing with customers who had booked packages that are yet to travel, although those will be much fewer going forward. Did you get at least an acknowledgement email when you submitted the claim, if you didn't, then call the office in Woking but if you did, I would wait another few weeks before emailing them as every additional email will simply delay the final payment
  • Hi Alan,

Thanks for the reply.  I got a reply on the 24/11/2021 about my claim being submitted.  I'll another few weeks like you suggested.
  • Hi

I'm in the same position. Acknowledgment received 17th November, nothing since.

Hi, has anyone had success with receiving the refunds back?  TTA travel told me to contact my card issuer about asking for a 'chargeback' but the bank told me since it has been 540 days since the dispute happened they can't process a claim. Any advice would be appreciated.

I think the simple answer is 'no'. I understand there is a Facebook group that now has 2100 members, none of whom have received a penny. If you used a debit card there are only 120 days in which to make a claim and for the vast majority of people the bookings were made long before them, some have been waiting more than 2 years for a refund. TTA is based in Woking and should therefore be under the auspices of Surrey Trading Standards but so far there seems to have been little action on their part.

I fear it may take someone going to the press to tell the story to get things moving but who that will be I do not know.

    Hi,

Would you know the name of the Facebook group?

Sorry I don't do social media at all, I assume there may be a search button on Facebook, I would suggest looking for Alpha Rooms or Holidays. See also the forum mentioned above, it may help if you and others contact the BBC Rip off Britain team as they are on live starting shortly, either this week or next
