O/S Daily Wednesday 5 January 2022
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Still dark, air feels cooler.
DH and DS1 up and getting ready for work, I'm showered and dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was fish, chips/rice/veg/salad - not sure what we'll be having tonight - possibly chicken.
Yesterday work was very quiet to begin with but then got quite busy so that made the middle part of the day fly by - today I'm working at the other office and it's my half day. Still feeling shattered all the time.
Keep safe and well x

Thanks for the start nmlc, hope you feel better soon.
Cold but dry this morning, I would hang washing out today but I have to go back to work. I looked through all the work emails last night just to get a head start.
Had a lovely catch up with Gers yesterday, the scenery on the way there and back was stunning and the breakfast was great. We'll have to do that again!
Hope you're all well, take care. XX
I am off to ALD! this morning - I have made a meal plan and shopping list but will have a final look around and clean the fridge out ready before I go. I like to get there when they open and it's quiet. After that it's a normal working from home day for me with a couple of meetings this afternoon. I think it will be some kind of salad for dinner as I've been craving some nice fresh food after all the Christmas excesses! It is a little colder today though and I can see there is a frost outside so we will probably have some soup with it!
Brrrrr feels very cold here this morning I am sure there will be a frost on the cars, off to work for me but only today and tomorrow to go as its my day off Friday which will be lovely.
Spag Bol for dinner tonight which is made and in the fridge, it will just need heating through and some spaghetti cooking, I have an appointment straight after work so I will be later cooking so this will be nice and quick.
DW to empty this morning and a wash to go on befor I go.
Discovered last night that little pup has lost a tooth, its not snapped off but completly gone, so need to phone the vet to get her mouth checked out.
NRA thinking of you xxx
Have good days all xxx
I had a lovely meet up with df yesterday, much catching up to be done due to Christmas intervening. She opted for something from the healthy eating menu whereas I have less willpower and the fish and chips called to me. Ooh they were delicious! I got home just in time for my Tes*o delivery which arrived an hour early!! Nothing missing but a couple of subs which were to my benefit so all was well!
I am meeting my bf today and we planned on going to the Italian restaurant which we cancelled just before Christmas. Then I got an e-mail from the carvery with a 50% off main meals offer so, in the spirit of MSE, we decided to go there instead. Table booked for 2 pm to allow the lunch time rush to thin out a bit. We will then vacate to the little bar to catch up on all our news. She's having a rough time with her DH's mental health issues just now so it gives her chance to offload her worries.
My lovely grandma was born on this day in 1893 and I have been reminiscing on the happy times I had with her when I was growing up. We lived next door so I was in her house as much as mine. She taught me to knit, crochet, sew, bake etc whilst my mum was working. Sadly I could never grasp tatting. My grandad would be out in his garden tending all his veg and flowers and, when not with my grandma, I was his assistant. They were happy days. I still have my grandma's china christening mug and it's one of my most treasured possessions. It's really pretty with gold lettering and decorated with pink flowers. How it has survived all the house moves since she was born I have no idea!
Right reminiscing over, jobs await before I go gallivanting this afternoon. Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all in need of them. Thinking of NRA. Take care one and all and be safe xx
Up early as I'm back to work today - was so cosy in my bed! I really didn't want to move.
Had a lovely lunch out yesterday - my friend brought another friend, who I sometimes see for 5 minutes chat at the bus stop but never more than that so the three of us had a lovely catch up. Our now aged 20-something children all went to the village school together when they were little - the school where I still work.
Later DD and little one came up and we finished off the leftover Chinese - little one had been with her daddy for the day. She's fine again now - bouncing about and full of chat. She's excited to get back to nursery today.
Well I need to have a quick look at my Tesco order for Saturday.
Hoping everyone has a good day x
Morning all,
Thanks for the start nmlc.
I popped to the post office yesterday to use the self-service machine for a single 1st class stamp. My friend has a birthday tomorrow. Unfortunately, they had taken both machines out of service, and there was only a sole cashier on (out of 4) so the queue was at least 20 people long. I ended up sticking a 2nd class Christmas stamp on and hope it arrives. Particular friend is a bit touchy about people forgetting, being at it’s so close to Christmas. I bought the 18th, 30th and 50th cards (£10.50!) too.
Work was busy as I had emails to catch up on from 23 December and it was nice to have a routine to my day tbh – TTCB I hear you!
Bella – good news about the dentist.
TA – enjoy your lunch out.
Two loads of washing to do today. Dinner tonight is mac n cheese with green beans, a favourite at Casa Coxy.
Have a good day everyone.

Morning
AWOL yesterday. Think the change in weather really affected me so fingers wouldn’t play ball. Did some physio on them then gave up and made them knit which helped a bit. Watched Anne which had me in tears lots what an amazing woman she was, need to watch last nights later no doubt more tears.
Food was a fridge use up of some smoked salmon which was very nice with salad and dressing. Sounds healthy but I spoilt it by following with cake and cheese
Did do a bin run but it was precarious on wobbly feet bring back the mild weather.
So not a lot achieved yesterday hoping for a better result today. I have got out a freezer surprise which I think is sausage casserole which is maybe a bit more seasonal than a salad.
Your meet up sounds great G+C
Have a good day all and I hope your day is considerably more exciting than mine
