Is the low salt version any good? I'm about to be persuaded to take blood pressure tabs.sammyjammy said:Big marmite fan here, Vegemite NO. The only alternative I'll accept is Sainsbury low salt yeast extract, very good.0 -
No shortage here. I usually get it in Lidl as normally cheapest Looks like Asda & Tesco are price matching Aldi so pretty much £2.49 for 250 g everywhere.

Absolutely, you can't even tell the difference, its definitely worth a try. Saying that unless you are eaten a lot of marmite I wouldn't worry, its the hidden salts in things like ready meals, bread etc that are the issue (assuming you don't salt your food). I wonder about this. I think things may have changed over recent times.sammyjammy said:

The daily recommended upper intake is 6g.
I track my consumption of salt (and other food groups) and also eat a fair number of supermarket ready meals (because I live alone and this is an easy way to give me more variety).
Over the last 228 days my average salt consumption has been 4.19g and on only 15 days has it exceeded 6g. On two of those 6g+ days I had regular Marmite, contributing 0.5g to the total.0 -
Aldi "Mighty" yeast extract at £1.69 for 240g is the best value. We only use it in vegan savoury soups, stews, sauces and to make home made gravy.

I wonder about it too. My stats (over the last 931 days) are an average of 4.23g, and also 15 days where it exceeded 6g.I wonder about this. I think things may have changed over recent times.

I did initially give up Marmite and switched to this:
https://www.hollandandbarrett.com/shop/product/meridian-natural-yeast-extract-60002617
which was the lowest salt content equivalent I could find at the time. It's OKish, but I've now reverted back to Marmite with no ill effects!

I usually get mine in Sainsburys 500g for £4.75.
I did try the plastic tubs from costco (600g I think) but they were fiddly and got mucky very quickly.0 -
Thanks all found it.now in Sainsbury's0

I don’t eat a lot of Marmite but am very fond of Marmite crisps.
. Am I the only one? 1 -
I liked the Mini-Cheddars when they added Marmite flavouring to them, that was a good combination. Not sure if it's a regular thing or just an intermittent special, haven't looked in ages!
