A couple in their 80's have received a text from Gov.uk that they have been in contact with a positive covid person.Tui says they are not allowed a refund or a date transfer of holiday as they aren't covid positive only advised to isolate.Surely if you're isolating you can't travel. They should have travelled 04/01/2022 but only received the text 02/01/2022.They have insurance with Nationwide but they say they are not covered as they don't have covid ! Do they have any rights at all it all seems very obscure ? They have always travelled with Tui for years so I thought they would be more helpful....... but no

I don't think you have to isolate any more if a close contact (provided double jabbed). So they could have travelled.Pensions actuary, Runner, Dog parent, Homeowner0

Rules on pinging are If you're told to self-isolate by NHS Test and Trace - NHS (www.nhs.uk)
Its a little unfair as it talks of Track & Trace and the app together in most places but conveniently drops the app from the big box about it being a legal requirement without explicitly pointing out the app is never a legal requirement.
This is potentially secondary anyway as your destination country may require a declaration that you havent had contact with someone and having been pinged it may not be possible to make such a declaration (would obv have to read exact wordings)
Unfortunately isolating but not infected is a scenario that often isnt covered... did they not try and reschedule the holiday? Its presumably still within TUI's covid related flexibility period.0 -
OP, this is what the wording of the text said on the 2nd November. I dont think it has changed since. As I asked, are they exempt (double jabbed)?

Bearing in mind their ages they are triple jabbed but they don't have internet or the app. They receive a government text telling them they must isolate for 10 days so they do as their asked (as this generation would). It seems a little unfair that they not only lose their holiday but also their hard earned pension. It seems this government seems to need to up it's game.0
