I noticed that Royal Mail have reduced some of their online parcel prices, I think they are also offering free collection at the moment.

30p off my most used service (small parcel up to 2kg), that’s not bad!misterthrifty said:I noticed that Royal Mail have reduced some of their online parcel prices, I think they are also offering free collection at the moment.

No, 30p reduction is correct, the counter price for RM 2nd class small parcel is £3.20. It went up from £3 a while ago.

I use online postage due to costs, but instead of saying my saving was 10p per parcel (which it is) I used the over the counter price (correctly shown by you) to calculate my saving, totalling 30p. ‘I’ personally am only saving 10p a parcel whereas anyone currently paying over the counter at the PO who switches to online postage will save 30p. I muddled my comparisons.ElefantEd said:No, 30p reduction is correct, the counter price for RM 2nd class small parcel is £3.20. To buy this postage online, does one need to set up an account or can it be one off purchase?0

No account is needed, just go here https://send.royalmail.com/ and follow the steps, you need an email address for the receipt but not an account.kalsha said:To buy this postage online, does one need to set up an account or can it be one off purchase?1 -
Or see if ebay prices reflect the change as they use Royal mail infrastructure in a round about way.kalsha said:To buy this postage online, does one need to set up an account or can it be one off purchase?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I used the collection service in December. I was charged £3.00 for my small parcels and £5.10 for the medium. The postman who collected brought labels with him.
I was really pleased to find out about this collection service for individuals with the odd parcel to send. I got a leaflet through the door. I don't mind paying for a service.
I normally have to ask someone to post parcels for me (not any more I hope) which i feel quite guilty about during busy Christmas posting time.
No account needed and I paid through PayPal.0 -
The £3 and £5.10 were standard online prices and the collection fee was waived for a few months , I believe it has become chargeable now so your parcels will be ore expensive and may start eating into your profit. Make sure you check the additional cost for collection before you confirm.GaleSF63 said:I used the collection service in December. I was charged £3.00 for my small parcels and £5.10 for the medium.
