This is my 4th week in a new build house. Water started leaking in the bathroom - it was visible on the floor (karndean) and downstair walls. Plumber came and fixed the leak (which was in the bathtub). Now, the upstair floor is becoming puffy at some places. I don't understand these structural issues and need your help. Could you please let me know what exactly should I ask them to replace/check as this is a new build eg flooring, wall painting. I am worried about the inside eg wood inside, insulation - anything can be done? Please help. Thanks
Has the leak definitely been stopped? if so the water which escapes is just drying out. You can speed it up by putting a dehumidifier in the affected rooms. If in a couple of weeks the floor is still damaged and there's damage on the walls then the developer should put it back to how it was when you moved in at their cost. The Karndean might just need gluing back down rather than replacing.
If you think it's still leaking then contact them and ask for the plumber to come back.
You can check all the visible connections yourself by running your hands around the pipes under the sinks and toilet seeing if there is any water dripping off them. If you're not sure as they're a bit damp, wrap some kitchen roll round them, run the taps and check again. If it's wet then you have a leak. What you can't check is the taps and seal around the bath and shower. You'll just need to keep an eye on the ceiling below for any signs of leaks.
