That sounds like a lovely box! With which company was it?
I am in the lucky position that i got to know someone who can provide venison at good price (no middleman)
In: venison burgers, sausages, mince, bone-in shoulder.
Out: 2min porridge, disc of mango (froze mango juice a while back in muffin tray) for breakfast. Fajita mix and tortillas for dinner. It's good for the soul to walk with your soles on the soil.4 -
Out: spices, tinned tomatoes and coconut milk for aubergine curry.
In: have to work 20(!!!) aubergines got in an olio box. So aubergine curry and then ratatoullie for freezer. If any left over going to try my hand at pickled aubergine too.
Out last night for dinner: filled proscuitto pasta, tinned mushroom.
In: from another olio box: tinned chopped tomatoes, tinned sliced mushrooms, tinned mixed beans. It's good for the soul to walk with your soles on the soil.4 -

We had family visiting yesterday so there are lots of leftovers. We finished the tuna in pasta today which leaves some (cooked) green beans and peas, (raw) carrots, roast chicken, strawberries, raspberries and blueberries, ham and an extra pint of milk.
I sent some items home with the guests, and there's still all that!
There are also grapes, quiche, peppers and daily pickings of blackberries from the garden. I've still got a few gooseberries to turn into jam, too. I think dinner tomorrow might be 'chicken and' pie. I could roast carrots, peppers and some red onions from the depths of the onion bag to go with it and maybe put baking potatoes in the oven to make best use of the heat. Extras can be reheated another day.
Oh, and I have bananas and eggs. Why do I always have bananas and eggs?I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

@Cherryfudge - we are constantly running out of eggs and bananas! 😆
Our dinner tonight will be healthy s&s made with a recipe from the hirsute bikers. The tinned pineapple and water chestnuts have been languishing in the stores since the end of lockdown so have decided they deserve using up!4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! (24 OCT 2016)(With heartfelt thanks to those who have gone before us & their indubitable generosity.)...and now I have a mortgage! (23 AUG 2021)New projection - 14 YEARS 10 MONTHS LEFT OF 20 YEARS (reduced by 15 mths)Psst...I may have started a diary!3 -
I am about to gain weight as I made chicken and ham pie, using all the ham, about half the chicken, the peas, beans and some mushrooms, some gravy powder and pastry from the freezer. The rest of the pastry made some pastries for lunchtimes and I have a tray of roast potatoes and vegetables to go with tomorrow's meal. So now I have most of the berries, enough chicken to feed two fairly generously, a punnet of mushrooms (I fitted half an opened punnet in the freezer), a couple of carrots, most of a bag of peppers, the gooseberries, half a quiche, a pot of yogurt and a watermelon - oh, and most of the eggs and all the bananas.
The thing is, we're away over the weekend!
So the new plan is to make chicken chasseur tomorrow, thus finishing the chicken, some of the mushrooms and most of the roast veg. The rest of the fridge stuff will just have to sit there till Monday.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

I haven't been here recently,I lost the thread for a bit, plus been very busy. How do I save the thread?
I hope everyone is doing well. You all signed like you are on top of things.
It's about 2 weeks till we complete on our new house we won't be properly moving for a couple of months though so I still have time to use things up.
I've been doing really well with using up freezer items. Stock is definitely going down there! Not so much the pantry l, I think I'll have to start focusing on that. I put £70 away from my grocery shops in the last two weeks towards my loan so feeling good about that.
Today out:
Chicken breast from the freezer and noodles from the pantry for a stir fry.
Joint of beef which will go in the slow cooker tomorrow morning for dinner.
Tin if tuna
In:
Ice cream and chips 😬

Went camping this weekend and only had to buy milk and 1 tomato, everything was from freezer, cupboard or allotment:
Out: venison sausages, breakfast muffins, garlic, tin baked beans with sausages, aubergine curry, eggs, crackers. Chard, onion from allotment. Also made baba ganoush with some of the aubergines to take along.
We treated ourselves to dinner from a food cart on-site the first night.
Managed to gift half the aubergines got left to a neighbour, so will make another batch of aubergine curry for freezer. Think got about 8 aubergines left from the olio box of 20!
@Frugalistamama congrats on the saving on your shopping! It a great step.
Ms C and I was thinking of doing a glass jar and putting money we save in there, a visual reminder of when we being good. It's good for the soul to walk with your soles on the soil.4
