That does look nice! Thanks @rtandon27. Just need some smoked cheddar or an equivalent and that's got to be available somewhere. :)

Oh wow, that sounds amazing, if a bit above my skill level. @Cherryfudge, if you do decide to make this, please share some photos!

I've taken out a whole pack of sardines to bbq this evening. Whatever is leftover will be used either in pasta or fishcakes tomorrow

How did the BBQ go, @carinjo

I think if I do the leek pudding, it might be as mini puddings as DH says it sounds too cheesy for him. I don't believe anything can be too cheesy! I'll give it some thought.

More chicken, bacon and mushrooms into the freezer today, a couple of jars of jam finished or abandoned as too alcoholic.

Oh my, those all look so tasty!

Speaking of peri peri, I had to get Dh to open a bottle of it this afternoon - it had been left by one of the children who all moved out long ago, so it was just needing to be rinsed and recycled. It had soldered itself shut!

I think I got rid of about ten assorted jars of things that were never going to get eaten. The recycling bin is going to be heavy but it's nice to not to have them waiting around saying 'You should eat me though I'm even older now than I was last time you didn't eat me!'

I will do a planned grocery shop in the next day or so as there are a few things needed. I must try and keep my hard-won storage spaces though.

That reminds me, I've a couple of bottles of hot sauce to use up soon!

Finished the last of the mince in the freezer yesterday, making the meat sauce for lasagne (one for tonight, one back into the freezer for another day). Had to pick up lasagne sheets for that, and some coconut milk for chicken curry which I had the rest of the bits for. Have cleaned out the veg drawer with only minimal binning of peelings and ends.

Did do a shop at the weekend, but resisted the urge to get loads of extras, and kept it at perishables and replacements for used up things.

Scoffed an iceberger in front of the telly last night to finish the box - such a sacrifice on my part!  Might have to do the same with the last posh hot chocolate cube thingie tonight :)

@kboss2010, i like the idea of the burritos, have a few tortillas in the freezer.
Out: tin potatoes to go with leftover sardines for light dinner.
In: tins butterbeans, 3beans, pack frozen prawns, tins dry rub/seasoning (from ald1).

Supermarket shop tonight to take advantage of some vouchers.

I arrived at the discounted fruit and vegetables section just as a member of staff was throwing things into a crate. When I asked it they were going to be discounted further he said no, they were taking them away. I really hope they weren't binning them because I hastily asked if I could just get some. I had four bags of rhubarb at half price (still £1.35 each, but this is about a year's supply for us) and three bag of apples at a quarter of the price.

The rhubarb is in the fridge because I've filled the space available with spinach cubes (one of our staples nowadays). Apples will soon be in my husband! I also nudged him to call in at Asd a as I've found their tinned fruit is a bit cheaper than elsewhere round here.

I've bought more cappuccinos, a couple of jars of pasta sauce (on discount) and pine nuts. The pine nuts were a whopping £5.40 for 150g! :o One independent shop I use just doesn't stock them any more because it would take such a massive percentage of the budget.

I wanted to get sweet potatoes but couldn't carry any more and they aren't urgent.

So much for clearing space... at least I had room to put all these things (apart from the rhubarb, but that should move into the freezer asap.

The freezer is inexplicably full, but a larder shelf is no longer overcrowded (also inexplicable). I've used up some roast pumpkin and breaded fish (separately) from the freezer and from the fridge, pesto pasta and a sausage tray bake. There's also salad needing to be eaten though I could freeze the spinach.

I continue to buy packet cappuccinos - trying less expensive brands with some success. We are also almost out of cake but that is a) easily rectified and b) won't hurt me.
