I had a quick look at the less scary part of the stockpile cupboard which is the tins/jars. Only two things were egregiously out of date: a tub of red curry paste and a tin of rhubarb. So I'll try to incorporate those into planning. Some other things could do with using but are still well in date so no hurry.
I still haven't properly assessed the carbs in there, but I'm planning to have a go at slow cooker risotto using the arborio rice this week.4 -
How about a nice Rhubarb crumble with some gloopy custard on top.If the crumble is in the oven part microwave a jacket spud or two then finish off in the oven as its on for the crumble .If it smells OK then use the curry up with perhaps some mince beef instead of chicken .I have found a packet of beef skirt in the freezer and need inspiration to use it up any ideas chums ??

Beef skirt would definitely be slow cooker for me, with some combination of stock/wine/ tomatoes.
I do love minced beef in a curry but I don't have any at the moment, I do have stir fry pork which could work. It is a good size tub so probably would get a few curries out of it (if it still smells/looks ok as you say).4 -

Yes I think I will probably stock my freezer back up once I've got through what's in there. I'd definitely like to be better at labelling things because quite often I have no idea what something is until it's defrosted, and I'd like a list of what's in there so I could menu plan without getting everything out to try and identify what I have. This would of course be in another world because I doubt I could be that organised! Another packet of sausages out today (how many packets can hide in one freezer) with mash, a dubious looking half a cabbage and onion gravy.6

Made some Dahl with some red lentils I have and popped in frozen spinach from the stash in the freezer. Think I need to make some more it was yum. Family had them with some leftover sausages as they are not great and being meat free. One kid did not like it, the other did..... Although I have made it before. That just tells me I need to serve it up more often!! 🤣

Odd sort of carbonara here using odds and ends of pasta in various shapes and some frozen ham bits from xmas plus the end of a packet of creamed cheese and the last spoonful of cream.6

In - lots of pizza (cooked and uncooked) and salad! I had friends round but overbought quite a bit. My good intentions of baking for us didn't happen, and the first shop I went to for pizza - researched yesterday to save last minute decisions - turned out not to have as good a choice as I'd thought. What looked like a vegetarian option wasn't labelled as such : I suspect the cheese wasn't veggie. So I bought two in that shop and two in another as the cheaper and more versatile option was in a two-pack.
We are out of fridge and freezer space as of today so things that won't fit in are covered and in the (unheated) kitchen but higher risk foods are put away.
I am down to one portion of the Moroccan-style stew and have reached the point of thinking 'at least it's healthy', as I've had as much as I want.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

I have used beef skirt in chilli con carne before now, it turned out really well. Easy to do in a slow cooker.
I have a big tub of greek yogurt and 3 aubergines, so tomorrow its lentil moussaka, using tinned green lentils.7
