Leased car - moving abroad
Options
Hi there, just wondered if anyone had any experience with this, and what advice might be on offer...
I have a leased car with about 2 years left on the contract, and due to changing circumstances, it's likely I will be moving abroad (Italy) in the next few months. I know I can drive the car abroad etc with the right permissions, but has anyone been able to flex their lease agreement to allow them to continue with the car long term in a foreign country? Or even transfer the agreement to another car. Obviously my main priority is to avoid early termination of the contract.
I've asked the question of VW finance but keen to hear from anyone with epxerience in this area.
Thanks in advance

I think the problem will be that you will need to register the car in Italy (within a month if moving there as your main residence)and that will not be allowed under your agreement.2

I think it's hugely unlikely that they'll let you move abroad with the car, because it'll be a logistical nightmare. You'll need to drive it to Italy, the wheels on the wrong side, you'll need to return it to the UK at the end. You'll also presumably be getting paid in EUR and paying the car in GBP, and will reside somewhere that'll make enforcing a contract a lot harder.
Your best options will likely be to settle the contract with them, or see if you can pass the car over to someone else for the rest of the term.
