  • Hey @ThisLife! All sounds good  :) Happy new year!

I'm sure there's a challenge on here to do with those pots, if that's of any interest.

Hope you have a great start to the new year

Thanks @LookingForPeace, feeling very determined for the year ahead. Can't go back, can we. Just learn from the past and move forward  :)
    Debt at LBM July 2017  - £42,002 (cards & loans) + £37,421 (2 mortgage consolidations)
    Car bought in Dec 2020 - £12,500
Total Debt - £54,502  (£91,923 including mortgage consolidations)

    Total Debt Jan '23 - £19,061.56 (credit cards) + £20,562 (mortgage consolidations)

Consolidated debt onto my mortgage twice in the years before LBM, so it's all consumer debt. Just focusing on clearing card debt first and letting the additional mortgages reduce with the monthly payments.

    DFD (credit cards) - December 2024 (24 months) 🤞🤞🤞

Food planning this week. We have a ham joint in the freezer, so this will do for one meal once it's first cooked and I'm going to make a ham, potato and leek pie too, with what's left over for sandwiches for lunch at work in the week. Good to have a food plan and know what we will be having each day.

Off to see if Prolific have any surveys  :)

    Transfered £12.05 from Prolific.

Opened up a savings pot to take part in the 1p Savings Challenge and printed out the chart from the site to keep a record. Not sure if I will go through day by day, adding a penny each time, or jump about and make payments depending on available funds each month. Now I just need to not spend money on silly snacks and have this challenge as a reminder not to - £667.95 by the end of the year is a good goal!

Decided I'm going to jump around the 1p savings challenge, rather than add the given amount day by day. Think I might struggle when it gets to later in the year and the daily saving amounts are larger. I'm also challenging myself to fund this with extra money not out of my monthly budget, but from surveys and sales etc. It will be nice to know at the end of the year that money is from little side hustles throughout the year!

  • So, over a year since my last update! I did complete the £1 savings challenge and got that pot up to over £1000 by Christmas. I kept going once I'd reached the total to see how far I could go. I've started one for this year again and am going to put in any extra earnings, Prolific, Vinted (which I only discovered a few months age, late to the party I know!) etc.

One big change this last year is that I have changed jobs (and career!) and am no longer in education. It needed to be done and it's like a breath of fresh air frankly. So now that part of my life that needed to change is sorted, I really need to focus on paying down my debt this year. The debt has gone down, but not as much as it could have, if I'd had been as focussed as when I first started all this.

I'll update my signature tomorrow and make a plan for the year.
