Hello everyone,
I've seen a few people talking about never having a bank account and only having a credit card where the person's wages go and direct debits come out etc.
Is it worth swapping?
And advice would be appreciated

When asked for bank account details to set up a direct debit, you need a sort code and account number. Never seen such a thing with a credit card.4

Cc don't have DDs on them. You can't pay wages into them either.4

So maybe you should ask the people you have seen talking about it.
My guess is they said they don't buy anything with a debit card, instead they always use a credit card and that gets paid off with a direct debit from the current account that their wages go into. If so, then yes, do that. Set the direct debit to full balance, don't spend more than you would if you were paying with cash or a debit card.

It's against the terms of use of credit cards to deliberately put them in credit, the funds will almost always be returned, so you couldn't get paid onto a credit card unless it was in debt to the exact sum of your pay slip (or more) even if this strange idea was attempted.1

And advice would be appreciatedI'd go along with this hypothesis. It's actually quite a sensible way of arranging ones finances, as long as - as you say - you only ever buy stuff on credit card that you know you'll be able to clear every month. Doing this means you've only got one transaction coming out of your current account each month to pay the CC (no biggie in itself, but it makes it ever so slightly easier to keep track of your account each month, although you do, of course, need to also check your credit card statement), plus you're steadily building up a lot of nice green ticks on your credit history. But yes, in the real world you need a current account as well - you can't pay wages into a credit card, and if you want to pay bills, subscriptions, etc. by DD then you'll need an account for that. Sure, some bills can be paid on CC via a Continuous Payment Authority, but a standard Direct Debit is still the most widely-used method, and is the only "automatic" payment vehicle offered by a lot of service providers.
