DWH kitchen packages

Hello all.
I'm new to all this and have reserved a DWH recently. I know there are alot of other threads regarding kitchen options but none of them seem to have answered my questions.

First one is if you go for the silver package without appliances do you get plinth and pelmet lights? Has anyone managed to get these thrown in if not?

Second one is, again regarding the silver package, is there a large selection of choice for kitchen cabinets?

The main reason we're going for the silver package is we want an American style fridge/freezer and don't want to pay another £3.4k plus for an upgraded kitchen with an integrated fridge freezer already.

Has anyone had this issue and if so how did you go about it/outcome?

Thank you

It’s probably best to speak to your sales advisor based at the development. I’m sure they will have a document which shows exactly what is included in the ‘silver’ specification.

I have recently purchased a new build property (with a different developer) and we had a reasonable selection to choose from within the different price ranges.

  • Yeah we're booked in to see what's available to us later in the month.

We wanted an idea of what differs between the standards so we can do a little background research before we go, hopefully being armed with more knowledge, to do a little haggling.

Out of interest. Did your kitchen choice come with plinth and pelmet lights included or did you have to pay extra for them?

The developer of my house didn’t offer these, even as an additional extra. Sorry I can’t be of any further help.

You May have already done this, but searching the forum might help you - I’ve seen a number of threads over the last 12 months discussing these DWH kitchen specifications.

Our DWH came with the silver spec kitchen, the house was complete when we reserved it so we didn't get to choose the fixtures and fittings but would probably have chosen this one anyway.

The kitchen didn't come with plinth and pelmet lights but it was prewired for them so fitting them ourselves was an easy job.

For much the same reasons as you we would have chosen the silver spec kitchen anyway as the upgraded kitchens had a small integrated fridge freezer whereas we have room for a massive american style fridge freezer in the same place.

I understand pelmet lighting, but what is plinth lighting for? It lights up the dirt on the floor, so as to make it easier to clean it - is that the purpose?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

it illuminates the spiders so the dog can chase them :)

Did you request for the wiring to be put in place for them, or was it put in as standard?

It was put in as standard. Our house was complete when we bought it so we didn't have any choices with fixtures and fittings or specifications.

Ah great. Hopefully that's the same for us as well as they will be easily to put in later if the wiring is already rigged up ready to go.
