Which adhesive please?

I would like to stick some soft wood battons together for outdoor use.
It will, once stuck, be cut to form a pointed, old fashioned door/gate half open with a scene behind.
The ultimate aim would be to form a decorative (not functional) garden gate against the fence with a trump loile behind so I need it to last some time. Not something I want to do often.
But as far as gluing the battons together I'm clueless. Something cheap would be appreciated. I have Gorilla glue/mastic but not sure how it will react to damp.

I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

External PVA clamped until fully cured (24 hours) is all you need. Once fully set it lasts as long as the wood.

A lot of brands have their own name for it, Evo stick wood glue being one you will recognise but they are all basically the same. Just make sure it's for external use.

You need a D4 Wood Glue for outdoor use. Gorilla All Purpose (the stuff that looks like a dark Golden Syrup) is probably D4, although I couldn't find anything to confirm this. The Gorilla Wood Glue (that looks like a traditional white PVA wood glue) won't be D4.

However I wouldn't use Gorilla All Purpose for the purpose you require - foams up as it sets, which is great for filling gaps, but it also stains the wood. I would suggest you look for a non-foaming D4 Wood Glue. There are plenty around but all are quite expensive.
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.

Gorilla glue is suitable for outside uses just needs clamping for 12/24 hrs. But if you are making a ornamental gate it needs to be from treated wood (Tanalized) I would also screw it together with zinc coated scews. That way it will last for approx 10 years

    Thanks everyone. That's reassauring.
Not sure I need it to last for 10yrs, I will probably want something else before then ;-)
It's just a bit of fancy for a small garden and I have the skills and a piece of bullseye glass to make a painted scenic window on the world that Isn't outside! Donemedosh I will paint old iron hinges on........with shadows.
Kind of you to answer a small question beyond the big problems on here but it's the sort of stuff that comes up in life that my circle can't answer.
