Renting post Covid

Looking for a bit of advice for renting post Covid. My brother is a driving instructor, wasn't able to work for many months during the first two lockdowns so his income was affected. He was eligible for the grants and UC. He is looking to move but is this even possible as he won't have a full history of his accounts for the last two year owing to Covid. He has perfect accounts before this, good references and a good rent payment history.

Thanks

The issue he might face is competition (edit for spelling). Will a landlord pick a rival applicant whose work is more stable, who has up to date accounts and good references?

He's never had an issue renting before since being self employed, just with Covid there seems a grey area.

    I think brett meant 'competition'.

So it'll depend on the area, and how many people are applying for each property. If another person looks better on paper and is willing to pay the same, the landlord will go with them. It's certainly possible - even long term benefits claimants can and do rent privately. Easy? No, basically.
