Deconstructing an internal porch

Options
Hello all

I'm after some tips on how to deconstruct this internal porch.

My plan was to take the wooden door out, tape up the glass panes just in case, and use a chisel along the joins (ceiling, wall and floor) and crowbar to pry the wood panels away and hopefully gently lower to the ground one side at a time (will need to somehow saw down the central join between the two porch sides)...Followed by getting a plasterer round to rectify any wall damage...! Getting new floors so not fussed about damage to the laminate.

Does that seem reasonable or am I quite far off the mark?

Thanks so much for any advice

Personally, I'd try to remove the wooden beading first that holds glass panels, then remove the glass.

Not to your taste so it has to go, but to my eyes it is a well designed, craftsman built, very practical structure. From the style of the pressed glass I would say mid 70s, about fifty years old.

My advice is to make sure that the replacement exterior porch is constructed before you start demolition. If not you will regret it.

Thanks @grumbler, a helpful suggestion. My main concern is glass shattering everywhere so will have a go at one of the bottom panes first to see if that would be possible.

It is well crafted as you say @Alderbank but totally useless as a porch as the main way in and out of the house is the back door, not the front. So all coats and boots etc are stored elsewhere and this porch is wasted living room space. I despise the leaf glass but do like the panelling, however it's got to go!!

Once it's de-glazed you might be able to get the fixing screws out from the walls and ceiling.

Super, thanks @stuart45. Will work my way along the panes closest to the walls and ceiling first to get to the fixings, before taking the crow bar to the joins
