    Wow, so we're encouraging someone to stay in their current home, even though they have said they are willing to leave... causing the LL a fair amount of hassle?

    How about we just stick to what's asked - what can the person do about utilities.


    Others have covered energy.

    Your phone: I assume you mean a landline?  Just call the suppler and explain you're moving house and want to take your services with you.  Providing you can, it'll take them a few weeks to get set up and sorted anyway.  If they can't supply your new address, you're likely free to leave with no penalty.

    Your Internet: Same as above really.

    As a LL I feel it's important tenants understand their rights, hence my link to the stickie. I wasn't 'encouraging' any course of action, which is the OP's decision, but if the OP were not fully aware of the protections afforded by the Housing Act etc, then their decision would be based on insufficient knowledge.

    I see it as providing options of their rights as they stated they have to move as they were given notice - which is not entirely accurate.
