What to do with peeling bedroom furniture

About 9 years ago I had fitted furniture installed in my bedroom - bedside cabinets, wall of wardrobes and a unit in the bay window. Now the laminate(?) coating is coming away on a lot of it and I am wondering what to do. I like the furniture as it is solid and saves space compared to free standing units. I did consider taking the laminate off and painting but feel it might be too much especially on the wall of wardrobes. I'm looking for ideas of what would work and look good please.

My parent's kitchen unit doors were replaced about 10 years ago & the laminate finish is now coming off in sheets.
    A right mess.
When I visited a company the supplies new doors they told me that the laminate coating's would only last about 10 years.

Yes - it seems to be a common problem. It looks like clean MDF behind the laminate. I did consider painting it all white and replacing the tops of the bedside units and window unit with real wood but I don't know what to do with the wardrobes to tie it all together. I'm hoping for some great money saving ideas.

Have you checked your guarantee from the manufacturer?  I had a Sharps bedroom start lifting at the edges and had a door replaced, can't remember how long after it was installed. The man who came and replaced the door said it was very common. I wouldn't buy a Sharps bedroom again after that.

I had them fitted by a local tradesman who died a couple of years after fitting them.

Paint the wardrobe a different colour so they stand out like a feature wall? Whilst at it you could change the handles on all furniture to match which would tie it in?

Don't laugh, I tried on my sister's wardrobe laminate and it did the job. However having had it fitted just 9 years ago I would also be looking at the guarantee.
