Hi all
Looking to get alcolve cabinets along with 2/3 floating shelves above it
Been given a quote of £1,200 for one alcolve cabinet and 2 floating shelves.
Inclu painting, made of moisture resistant MDF and birch ply for the interior.
Does this quote sound fair (in London)
Also is mositure resistant MDF recommend for such cabinets?
Thanks all

Price seems fair (for a typical 1.2m alcove) provided the quality is good and the thickness is appropriate for What’s going on the shelving - books can be very heavy (25mm+ across a span of a metre).
Two things to consider is if you’ll have any sockets or cabling behind or through the cabinet and whether the painting is by coats applied or by the colour finish wanted - MDF soaks up paint (for example a pure white finish can take multiple coats).
Doesn’t have to be moisture resistant but won’t hurt.1 -
Thanks, he has good reviews on Google and I like the style of his work, but I was budgeting for about £2k max for 2 alcolve cabinets and floating shelves -wishful thinking I guess.
Don't know much about materials but always been told MDF warps and cracks easily?0
