Heads up, compers! In order to investigate a technical issue, we've had to move some of the older threads from Game Over into a new category called 'Game Over Archives'. It'll be comps from before 2017, so shouldn't have too much impact on your day-to-day Forum experience. Thanks for your patience!

2021 worst winning year?

been comping for 10+ years, used to win at least 4-5 prizes a month. This has gradually declined over the last few years - it got to me winning about 4-5 a year. However, this year just gone I have won...0 prizes in total! Has anyone else had a bad year or have I just been having a very long dry patch, lol? Happy new year and happy comping for 2022 everyone!

Won some things over the year, but struggling to get one a month (mostly under £20) and the worst total since 2009 (last of a 3 year spell where I won zilch, zero, nothing)

I actually put a thread in IWIWIW, about my (lack of) wins last year.  Very few and far between, and nothing like the 5-10 wins per month I was getting a few years back!! I had two wins in December but other than that, only one in August, one in April and one in January! Hoping this year will be better.

Just two wins this year, £100 from That's Life and book from Postcode Lottery.   I try and comp every day and was hoping for better.    Hoping 2022 will be better (although £100 was very welcome)..

It was the worst year since I started.

There has been a decline in the last few years though I think, perhaps it's partly me being pickier with what I enter.

    Lean pickings here too.
Back in the heady days of comps such as ITV multiple online, The Times Rich List and Times Hourly we'd have 2/3 wins a week. Sometimes just toys or books, but a thrill none-the-less.
2/3 a month would be great now!

I won a jar of face cream last January and nothing since. Entering several hundred competitions a week 🤷‍♀️

I won on Pick My Postcode in January if that counts, but nothing else for me in 2021.

I only enter a few a day, but still disappointing.

Hoping for a good win in 2022 to make up for it though.. ;)

More people tend to be entering, whether it is to try and help their finance or because they are having to spend more time at home. The pandemic has a lot to do with it I think, less people being able to afford to give away bigger competition prizes and more people entering.

My worse year was actually 2020, worse than my first year of comping, I didn't even reach £250 worth.
I've been fairly lucky, I've won at least one prize every month from April 2016-Dec 2021 apart from Sept 19 and Aug 20.
I do enter for quite a few different things, as I have so many children I can enter for - from babies to late teens, a variety of animals and other people I can provide for too, so I do have a fair amount of small wins, most of mine probably usually up to £25 each, but I do have the occasional bigger win, which for 2021 was £327.47.

I ended 2021 with 56 prizes for the year with a total of: £1313.13 worth of prizes and vouchers and an additional £42.96 cash.

Thank you to everyone who posts competitions and good luck to everyone who enters.

wow that's a brilliant amount of wins :) I tend to go for smaller prizes - i just like entering comps that offer books, candles, toys, chocolates etc as prizes - i'm not interested in the holidays, tickets, etc comps. I enter rafflecopter/gleam, Twitter and fb ones but never Instagram - i don't have an account, so if wins are easier to come by on these comps that could be where I'm missing out? Anyway, got my fingers crossed for a better year this year. :)
