A chalet is a bungalow with an upstairs. It’s about the style of building. Although some bungalows are converted upwards as well.Whether you buy a chalet, house or bungalow does rather depend on your individual preferences and circumstances. You’ve asked an unanswerable question otherwise. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.5 -
Its a bungalow designed like a Swiss chalet, my parents estate has some built in the early 60s.
Your comparison on which to opt for is therefore between a bungalow and a house.1 -
I also think of a chalet as a wooden building !
So what is the building made from ?0 -
Bricks/stone with timber cladding between windows and roof apex.Unlike other bungalows the gable end is often street facing, like Swiss chalets.0

A chalet can also suggest a building that is not for permenant residence. As in in a holiday park where residence is restricted to, say, 10 months per year. You need to look beyond the word 'chalet' at the actual construcion, and the actual legal restrictions (if any).1

It's where you go on holiday if you want to ski and party.1

Let's see what you're looking at.0

My Dad bought a 'chalet' on the IOW about fifteen years ago. Unfortunately he didn't check the small print, could only be inhabited for nine months of the year.£216 saved 24 October 20140

Chalets are built of wood and have overhanging eaves.
Something maybe described as chalet style. Though is unlikely to be one in this country0 -

Nothing to be concerned about as long as they are traditional construction.0
