I'm not sure when the AO starts but (depending on when it does) you've given them 7 days notice as @ciderboy2009 says, haven't you? I presume you've actually spelled out to them that you can't attend because of Covid and you haven't just asked them a vague "what if" question? I'm sure they don't expect you to wait for their response and then you have to notify them again.
Couple of other points...
In your first post you quote, point 4 of Covid booking protection which says:
But in your later post it only says:What is COVID-19 Booking Protection?
COVID-19 Booking Protection covers patrons against the following circumstances:
...
4. You are prevented from travelling to Melbourne due to State, Territory or Commonwealth government travel restrictions and you ...
I'm probably only splitting hairs here, but it seems to me that the first quote covers a ban on getting into Australia in the first place (the mention of Commonwealth government travel restrictions) whereas the second quote at least appears only to cover travel restrictions within Australia between states. Whether that is what it is meant to mean or whether it's just been badly put together as a guide to Covid protection by someone who doesn't understand what it does mean, I don't know. I presume you can't go to the AO because you can't get into Australia at all, not because you can't cross into Victoria from another state?bradsmith999 said:...· You are prevented from travelling to Melbourne from interstate due to border closures/restrictions
...
Also in your last post you quote:
I presume the ** after the word "guarantee" in some way limits or further explains the scope of the guarantee. When you look at the ** what does it say? Does it apply to your circumstances?bradsmith999 said:...Book with Confidence – Covid-19 Booking Protection
...
It’s not an add on, it’s a guarantee** – and it comes standard with all Australian Open 2022 tickets purchased through Ticketmaster, covering ticket-holders against the following circumstances:
...
If I understand you correctly, you've sent separate notices of being able to unattend because of Covid travel restrictions for each of the members of your group, but you've only received a reply in respect of one? Have you evidence of sending each message and of each being delivered?
At the end of the day - if you are looking for peace of mind - all you can do is go back to the people you made the booking with and ask them for answers to all the questions you want covered. Make sure you explain clearly to them exactly what it is you want clarifying or want an answer to. Despite the practical difficulties of doing so, you might be best speaking to someone on the 'phone and then getting written confirmation. (email would be fine).
I note you are only asking about AO tickets. I assume you have already covered refunds for flight tickets? Or is it some sort of package? (I assume it isn't as you haven't mentioned travel... )0 -
I would have thought that "interstate" refers to travel between different parts of Australia, not from the UK.
The original point 4 does seem to suggest from the UK would be covered.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards.
