As nobody else has kicked off a New Year's Resolutions Thread, I thought I'd have a go. Would you like to join me?
I want to experience life, not just read about it or watch it on television. In the past, we've had a 19-things-in-2019 thread a 20-things-in-2020 thread and a 21-things-in-2021 thread. There was absolutely no way I could come up with 22 challenges this year, but here is my list so far:-

- Knit 30 balls of yarn from stash.
- Do the 2022 Fashion on the Ration challenge and keep within my coupon count.
- Read 12 books.
- Continue with my daily Duolingo French.
- Blog 24 times.
- Run an official 5k.
- Build muscle by weight training 2 days a week.
- Run 3 days a week.
- Write that book.
- Spend my holidays travelling and seeing places.
- Plan and organise a trip home to Oz to see my family. (This may not occur until 2023 because of work and Australia's COVID restrictions.)
- Attend 10 concerts.
- Continue saving/investing a third of my salary.
- Get my podcast queue down to a more manageable level. Currently there are 295 podcasts in the queue. I’d like to get it down to less than 150.
- Attempt to eat 30 different fruits/veggies/grains each week to improve my gut health.

I think I'd just like to keep on working on Making A Decision And Sticking To It, instead of doubting my judgement constantly so that I don't finish things...2025 remaining: 37 coupons from 66:

Right - some of mine:
1... Declutter to the point of sanity's return, by whatever means - sell, give away, or even tip if necessary.
2... Be firm with the Offspring that our home is not a holding stage for items (especially furniture) that they're not sure whether they want to keep or not!
3... Walk or work outdoors every day. Even in the rain... Doesn't have to be our usual 3-mile-riverside-route, a trot up to town for essential supplies (like library books) will count.
4... Re-organise the allotment so that it works better for us - already underway, but only about 1/10th done, and now a mud-bath.
5... Ditto the kitchen - half-done, but abandoned because of noise issues for those working from home. No end to that in sight, so we just need to get on with it.
5... Make time (and space) for making.
6... Make time (and head-space) for writing.
7... Plan an actual holiday. Not a last-minute dash cross-country to see some relatives; an actual break. Even just a few days wild-camping in my van, somewhere different, with no obligations.
Edited to add two more long-term aims:
8... Take my fermentation journey further; learn more, try different techniques, experiment more, and give up quicker on the ones that don't suit our tastes or lifestyle!
9... Take more opportunities to notice, learn & practice stuff in general, in all sorts of directions.

Great idea to have this thread @PipneyJane! I'm off to work soon so I'll bring my contribution tomorrow. Reading people's lists so far is inspiring me to make mine even longer!I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

I don’t make New Year’s resolutions as such, because in the past I’ve just found I have set myself up to fail. I used to make them too difficult or specific and lose focus.I have a lot of work to have done on the house this year, I moved in last year knowing it would need a new kitchen and bathroom and various other works. I hate having workmen in so it’s going to be quite a challenge for me.In general terms, I want to exercise more – I’d like to start running again but I think I need to start by just walking every day. Then I’ll go back to the couch to 5k which is brilliant, I finished it last year but have let things slip since I moved.
One of my resolutions is to have more fun! It’s very easy to end up with a list of chores or self-improvement things, I’m not booking any holidays at the moment because it feels too uncertain but I want to have more days out with family and friends, theatre trips and so on.
oh, and do more sewing – that is one of my fun things and often gets put aside.I think that’s enough to be going on with!Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.6 -
Hi everyone. Thanks for joining me.
I’ve added another resolution to my list. My podcast queue is unwieldy at 295 and I’d like to get it down to something more manageable. I’m aiming at 150 podcasts but, really, I’d love it to be below 100. (That’s as many as you can see in the Apple podcast app.)
Happy New Year and best of luck.

It'd be good to keep this thread "alive" by reporting back when we feel we've followed through on one resolution or another; I'd like to keep track of how I'm going along with my aims, and I find it much easier to do that online than by journalling, for example. It's so easy to forget what we've meant to do, otherwise. Plus, companionship along the way is always a help!Angie - GC April 25: £491.86/£500 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 21/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)2

Over the next couple of days, I’ll probably refine my list further but, after that, my plan is to post updates on the thread once or twice a month.

I also don't make New Years Resolutions but my aims for 2022:
- Do my Duolingo Spanish daily (or at least 5 days out of 7)
- Reduce my piles of UFOs and mending by at least 1/4
- Do some exercise - use that yoga mat I bought! Even 10 minutes a day will help
- Keep on gardening. I'm starting to learn what works and what doesn't, I need to build on that.
- Spend time crafting/sewing something new rather than mindlessly scrolling through FB of an evening.
Think that will do for now!

First failure to live up to my resolutions; this morning was taken up by my weekly visit to Mum and restocking the stall down there. As I got back into the van to head home, the rain started... by the time I got here, it was blowing an absolute hooly and hammering down, so I'm afraid the closest I got to a walk or working outside was crossing the lawn to shut the chickens up for the night!
Ah well, looks better tomorrow...Angie - GC April 25: £491.86/£500 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 21/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)1 -
I know it's late in the day but can I join .
My aims for the year are.
1. Read 52 books. I have already made a start and finished 2. This will slow down as back at work.
2. Spend time outside everyday. Ideally with a walk even if a short one.
3. Eat 10 different fruit, veg and nuts a day and 30 a week.
4. Visit 10 churches.
5. Meditate 3 times a week.
I'll be back with some more after some thought.2
