That's annoying princesskitty but good that you are still able to gift the watch! Need to book to see Sing 2!
I went to the high street today as needed a couple of bits in B00ts. They still have an aisle of Christmas stuff at 50% off, so I got a roll of gingerbread wrapping paper and a trio of Jack Will$ body sprays for DNiece. These were £1.75 and £4 respectively, so not a huge bargain, but will keep until Christmas. Oh wow I didn't realise Boots still had sale stuff, I haven't been to one since Christmas. Good to hear you were straight on it with the spreadsheet!
Blimey it's blowing a gale outside! I've taken my wreath off the door due to the wind, I tend to de-Christmas my wreath but keep it on the door during January and February as a 'winter' wreath. They're expensive so I like to get my money's worth! One day i'll find the time to forage and make my own.
I'm still marching on with my decluttering, every year I say i'm going to have a big de-clutter but never quite manage it, i'm determined to change that this year! I also need to organise my cupboards, that'll help me find homes for everything and ultimately help to keep things tidy - famous last words! By next Christmas my house will be an oasis of calm.4 -
@Coxy11
Thank you for the heads up about Boots having gingerbread gift wrap. I hope my local branch has some; I love gingerbread (including the biscuit variety).
@princesskitty29 if an oasis of calm comes from a tidy and de-clutter, count me in. Now that would be an amazing Christmas gift to myself :-)
I was asked to order some gifts for work so purchased some personalised items. I thought as I postage was being paid for, I would order a couple of things too(I did check first). I am sure the Company wondered what was going on when I was placing orders with Christmas messages on. Well you have to spread the cost and as they had 20% off, and I was not paying postage, I was not going to miss the opportunity. What was I just saying about decluttering

Ooh what personalised gifts did you get? Great saving on the postage - I detest paying postageCross-stitch WIP: Fiver Friday challenge 2025 founding member 😊 Read 25 books in 2025 11/25 Currently reading The Cliff House by Amanda Jennings4

Oh yes do tell what you bought oldmrandmrs. I hate paying P&P too, I know the concept makes sense that you have to pay for things to be posted but it just ups the cost of whatever you're buying.
I've pretty much used up all of the gifts I bought in the WHSmith sale already with various parties the boys have been going to, I should have bought more! I will definitely remember that next year.
Do join me oldmrandmrs with the decluttering, let's see if we're in our oasis of calm at the end of the year!I am actually on a decluttering thread on here but it moves so fast that I can't keep up. It's quite motivating to read the posts though.
I hope everyone got through storm Eunice yesterday without too much damage? We were in a red alert zone but we're quite sheltered on a housing estate here so didn't suffer any damage, we just had to keep an eye on Poppy the puppy when we let her out in the garden as she's so tiny and those gusts were strong!3 -
I got some personalised vases; To my godmother Merry Christmas
with love TheOldMansMrs was one of them
Slate tea coasters: XXX's beverage, HANDS OFF, especially the alcohol
They must wonder what sort of household I live in :-)
Princesskitty29 you will have to let me know the name of the thread for decluttering; I would probably spend more time reading on there than moving anything out of the house!5 -
I like the sound of those coasters - can think of a few recipients

I bought SIL and BIL tickets for Christmas, to see a well-known standup at a local theatre on Sunday night. Purchased on line, so the theatre had my email. Annoyed to receive an email last night saying sorry the performance had had to be postponed. SIL and BIL had arranged a babysitter and had travelled to the theatre only to be turned away. Not on really is it? I know theatres have been hit hard, hence wanting to support them, but no excuse not to have emailed me on Sunday?!

Treasurequeen said:This year I will have a problem my Nan is showing signs of dementia and from Christmas just gone she can’t find her gift cards people bought her. So gift cards are now off the table. She doesn’t want to go out for meals so that’s also off the table for her birthday in March. She’s hard to buy for anyway but this year for both birthday and Christmas it’s going to be hard to buy for her.
What's not to love about a bunch of flowers or a box of brownies showing up every month?!5 -
Theatre said they only got told at 7.25pm that he wasn't able to make the show as stuck in traffic - he was due on a 8pm. It's been rescheduled for end of May and luckily SIL and BIL can make the date.
Sorry about your Nan, but think LGP's suggestion of a subscription is a lovely idea. Think there's also tea/coffee ones or chocolates/sweets. I guess a magazine might be out of the question though?
I put my box of WHS goodies in the loft today - there's an old toybox/chest of the childrens' up there, where I put things during the year. Kept down the jigsaw of Marilyn Monroe as flying out to see my Dad a week Sunday. The jigsaw for Mother's Day also stayed down - it's the same day as DH's birthday this year. I will send him round to MILs the day before so we can go out to celebrate him. DH will be sourcing MILs present for the first time in 30 years. Good luck to him!
