Morning folks.Last day of the year is here eventually. And what a year it's been for everyone.I'm aiming to get up to Oban this morning, then I have some bread to collect on the way back and finally a quick visit to the bank in town. I've not got any special plans for tonight though I've been invited to a neighbour's for the Bells, I may well be fast asleep by then. I'm such a lightweight these days. 😀
Everyone here has my huge thanks for all the support and love given to me during a really difficult time. Whilst things were really tough there was always a word of encouragement, a PM full of soft and kind words and such care for both my beloved mum and me. Thanks to all those in our strange virtual world.Whatever you are doing this Hogmanay and whoever you're doing it with I wish you a peaceful and happy time bringing in the new year. Let's hope we get to a more normal way of life soon. The missing here remain missed. I hope that the poorlies and the sad get some comfort.Happy Hogmanay to everyone and all the best for a Happy New Year. 🎉🎉Should auld acquaintance be forgot
And never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot
And days of auld lang syne? For auld lang syne, my dear
For auld lang syne
We'll tak a cup o' kindness yet
For days of auld lang syne16 -
Morning folks and thanks GERS. What a beautiful start to the new daily your words were, they brought tears to my eyes. We really are part of a caring virtual little community on here, there is always a shoulder to cry on when in need of one, as well as a virtual hug. Much love to you all.
I had the usual rubbish sleep but as that's now par for the course I'll say no more about that! There are two 3 o'clocks in a day and I am getting fed up of seeing both of them!
I have no plans beyond cleaning the kitchen and bathroom today. Such excitement, and I may even dust and vac the bedrooms too. But not bothering with downstairs as I think I shall take the decs down tomorrow and there will be even more dust and glitter to clean up then!
My little trip into town was short and sweet yesterday and I was really surprised how quiet it was everywhere. I had a browse round a couple of sales but my purse remained closed. Nothing at all caught my eye.
DS and DP are having a little get-together at their house tonight for close friends and family but I shall feel safer staying at home I think and I shall be in bed long before midnight (and getting woken up when all the fireworks start going off! Grr!) Wishing all my virtual friends, present and MIA, a happy new year and hoping it's a better one for everybody. Take care one and all and stay safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"14 -
Good morning, and thanks for starting Gers, and as TA said, what a beautiful start. For once I slept well last night after a run of bad nights - I think that TA and I should form a virtual club, any one can join the non sleepers club. I think RosyRed has sleep problems as well if I'm not mistaken. We are going to a close friend's tonight for a meal, there'll be 6 of us. it will be a lovely evening. Her husband is a crack cook.I don't think we'll be there till midnight though as she has poor health so I don't expext she'll want to stay up.When we get home though, we will see the new year in, we always do, watching good old J**ls Holland.Again I'll echo TA and wish everyone a happy new year. Love and best wishes to you all.Take care folks14

Morning everyone and thanks for the thread Gers.
I’ve never been much of a fan of new year, and definitely think it gets worse the older you get. This year didn’t turn out as planned for me. Was meant to walk the length of the UK with my sister in aid of MH charities but we had to stop after 200 miles as our Dad was taken ill abroad. Pacemaker, lung cancer, bypass and replacement valve later, he is still fighting on – I am so proud of him – and realise how lucky I am. Walk to be continued in chunks over the next decade!
Thinking today of those on here who have lost loved ones this year, and also dumpling’s family xx
I am walking with some friends this morning then will take down the cards and some of the decs this afternoon and give the place a hoover and dust. We are going to friends tonight – 6 of us – so will do an LFT test beforehand. Dinner will be an easy pizza and salad, but will also take nibbles to our friends’ house. I will be driving as can’t bear the thought of trying to get a taxi on NYE.
Wishing you all a good day. Happy New Year and keep safe and well.

Morning all, what lovely words to start the day Gers, thank you & wishing everyone on here a hopefully better new year.I am the only one up but DH has to call at DS2s this morning, all his lights and some plugs went off in the kitchen last night.Thankfully his oven and freezer are still on, looks like something keeps tripping- just need to find out what! He's rung the electrician but he's going to Spain today but given a bit of advice- he thinks possibly outside lights.Scarlet, I've always been a very light sleeper so between them DH and DDog can make getting off or staying asleep tricky .!I do defect to the basement spare room quite oftenWe're not going anywhere tonight, can't leave the dog, she's terrified of fireworks, I'm hoping the Classic FM will work as well as it did in Nov. though, down in the basement with the blinds shut. The friends we often spend New Year here with when I do a meal live in Spain so aren't coming for the 2nd yearAnyway , I wish you all everything you would wish yourselves for the coming New Year, especially health and happiness.Have the best day possible xx:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. Morning
Nice words Gers I hope you enjoy your evening what ever you decide to do.
Looking forward to my OS Daily terrorist sessions please be gentle!
Nanny the day I can do star jumps will be a day worth remembering
Gammon came out lovely yesterday just need to do the maple syrup glaze and roast for half an hour. Thinking I might do it tomorrow with all the usual roast trimmings. I have some camembert to use so that’s tonight with some crusty bread and veg sticks for dipping. Going to stick some garlic in too to fend off any vampires. Plan to go to bed early then I get some kip before the mayhem starts at 12.
Good result with my delivery yesterday, 3 subs all in my favour. Levered it into the fridge and freezer so no starvation here again for a while.
Today I just want to tidy the kitchen and run the dishwasher but not much more. I have the last episode of “A Very British Scandal” and last nights “And just like That” to watch
Have a great day and night all whatever you like to do and may 2022 be memorable in a special way for you all

Morning all, the floor outside is damp but it's not raining and quite mild.
Nearly everyone has had problems of some sort or another this last year but here we are, still ready to offer comfort and kind words to one and all. You really are the best bunch of friends I've ever had, not one in RL are anyway as near as compassionate or thoughtful as any of you 😇 Thank you from the bottom of my heart 🧡
Today I have stripped the bed, I have the windows open for some fresh air in the bedrooms so I will remake the bed after it's had a bit of an airing. The bathroom will get a wipe over and then I'll empty the DW when it's finished. DD is going to collect us at 4.30pm and we'll go to her house for an Indian takeaway. Dad is coming too and the other GGP from the SiL's side of the family, a lovely lady called Betty. Later DD will drop us home with the DGC in tow as they want to spend the night, our DGS wants to see in the New Year with us as he did last year so I have a bottle of sparkling non-alcoholic wine ready in the fridge. The jury's out as to whether our DGD will make it till midnight 😊
I shall lift a glass to all on here and those still missing 🍹 and I would like to wish everyone.........a Very Happy and Healthy New Year 2022 and I wish you all joy and peace.
Take care my friends
nan xx
