Which Honda Jazz would you go for?

Hi all,
I'm torn between
a 2004 Jazz (70,000 miles) for £1500
a 2009 Jazz (40,000 miles) for £4000
a 2017 Jazz (15,000 miles) for £11,000
All 3 I believe have catalytic converters in different places. After my friend had the c c nicked from his MK1 Jazz, it's a concern for me. Having said that, if I bought the cheapest option, replacing it for £700 would still be cheaper than buying the 2009.
Any advice would be amazing please.
I can afford any of them, but which is the best value? Which one would you buy?
(also would a cat shield be seen as a modification for car insurance purposes?)

Never had a CC stolen, and wouldn't worry about it.
If the 2004 had a good service history, I'd go with that.

..£1.5k is really into "banger" territory, if it lasts 12 months then you are onto a winner...the stuff MSE is made of!With current prices being so inflated it may be a good option to go "cheap", and see what happens in another year.As long as it is still going in 12 months and you get another clean MOT it will still probably be worth what you paid for it?(As long as it's reliable, it's also nice to have a car that you don't really have to worry about)...

This is the second similar thread, but with the third option now added, the 2004 option at £1,500 is likely the best route in the current crazy market. I am assuming that you have checked this vehicle is in good condition, MOT history and such like (and won't be buying remotely). If it all check out, then once you've had a year from it you are into "win" territory.havingaball74 said:

If it was me, I’d go for the newest example,1

If the money isn’t the issue , I would go with the 11k car and not worry about the Cat1

Thank you all. I'm concerned about buying in such an inflated market but I can't see it correcting itself anytime soon and I'm totally carless.0

When I wanted to buy a Honda Jazz, I did some research on Clubjazz - the forum for the Honda Jazz.
Forums are divided in to Mk1-4 sections, and there is plenty of information in the FAQs for each section; I also found the users to be very helpful with specific questions.
From my personal experience with buying a Mk1, things to check are water getting into the space under the boot, look for areas of rust on the spare wheel, jack and floor pan. Automatic CVT gearboxes can be prone to shuddering. Catalytic convertors are really easy to steal from Mk1s, I had my replaced with a third party one for about £500, and was able to claim it on the insurance.
Good luck0
