“Exactly. Those marks and scratches do not appear commensurate with normal usage. They definitely look as if some object has been dragged along, or dropped.“

This is why I made my complaint. The marks and scratches do not correspond to normal usage of the floor that it is what we do.

You have presume that I have done something abnormal to the floor but this is why I am complaining, because I have not.

I don’t want any money, I just want a floor.
And you might get a replacement, IF you can show the floor is faulty.  That's why you need to let Wickes test it, or arrange your own inspection.  If the floor is demonstrated to be faulty, Wickes have the choice of repair, replacement or partial refund.

That's the upshot of it.  It needs properly inspecting/testing.  Wickes don't have to do anything until it is.

Would agree that the damage looks like normal wear from either grit on feet or something dragged over it.

If you want a good hard wearing flooring.

I do not work for them, we had ours laid just over 3 years ago. We have 2 dogs (who often will race over it & scrape their claws to try & stop) We walk over it in muddy wellies after walks. Still as good as the day it was laid. Bonus we have never had to mop it at all. Just run vacuum over it.

  • Thanks Bradden for your reply.

The underlay used was the green one from Wickes too.

The main issue here, is that I don’t think I have spare plank anymore as they already took them first time. I am happy for Wickes to come to my house and see all the damages in the whole house. The photos are just a sample. I am not stopping Wickes to investigate further but from their last email, appears that if I don’t provide a plank, the claim will closed.

Many of the scratches look as if they could be caused by grit or similar stuck in the sole of a shoe.  The larger gouge in one of the photos possibly by something heavy dropped on edge breaking the surface of the laminate.

Well yes, because they've told you they have a testing facility they would send the samples to.  They can't test it in your house when it's laid, nor do they have to.  After this length of time, the onus is on you to show it's faulty.

You've also ignored advice that you are entitled to commission your own inspection, perhaps from someone able to do so without dismantling the flooring.  If you don't want to send Wickes a plank, why don't you do that?

The OP reported the issue within about 4 months, I don't think it's up to them to prove there is an inherent fault, but clearly Wickes are entitled to receive the product back and do their own tests to confirm that it is not faulty (or is as the case may be.)

If that requires the OP to be without a section of the floor for a period then so be it.

I don't think it's fair, or at all reasonable, for the OP to expect Wickes to just refund them on their say so and the law, thankfully, doesn't agree with that either.

Take out a corner piece and give to wickes

try find as close replacement as possible. Ideally do it within 6 months else it’s on to you to prove the product is faulty

My point was that the floor looks like it has been damaged by you or a member of your family by either dragging or dropping an object or objects. I was not agreeing that the marks or damage were due to a fault in the flooring.
